THE KING’S BUSINESS

Bible Women’s Work

been in the hospital for over a year, living on the bounty of friends. For months she had repelled Christian workers and felt that God was cruel, unjust and harsh. But during this time a faithful group of Chris tians had been praying for her salvation, and prayer was answered, wonderfully, when six weeks after the Bible woman’s last visit, followed by many little things the Lord allowed to be done in her behalf, the heart of the girl was softened, she felt her great need, vías convicted of sin and completely surrendered her life and all her troubles to Him. Again the seed, the Word of God, is beautifully shown in the heart of a young woman who declared it impossible to ab solutely know she was saved. A Catholic woman in the room was greatly interested and entered freely into the conversation. They were shown how these things were written, by God Himself, that we might believe and know; that he that believeth hath everlasting life and shall not come into judgment; that we could not be pluck ed out from the Hand which held us safely. Then the cry of relief and’ assurance came from the young woman, who said, “I ’ve been a church member for years, but for the first time I know I am saved.” Her visiting friend declared her intention of coming with her to the Bible class to hear more of these wonderful things about God. Many cases of the Bible women are in tensely interesting in the light of small de tails and the surroundings* but are difficult to condense into item length. The Word of God as fruitful seed is proven daily according to promise. While standing on a corner, waiting for her car, a Bible wo man entered into conversation with a little woman near her, found her to be a stranger in the city, having recently moved here, a stranger to God. The heart of the woman seemed touched by the warm interest shown in her and she gladly accepted the Gospel of John, at the same time urging the new-

Through the teaching, or Bible classes, of one of the women a young man was re claimed from a life of sin and shame, dedi cated his life to God, took a course in the Bible Institute and now expects to be or dained by the Baptist Church and set apart for world-wide evangelistic work. About two years ago one of our Bible women was hastily called to see a young woman who was very ill and very much afraid of dying. The Bible woman prayed with her and gave her the plan of salva tion with the result that she seemed very much comforted, but she did not accept the Lord that day. Two years rolled around and the Bible woman heard nothing more of the case until this week, when the wo man telephoned to her that soon after her interview she accepted the Lord and since that time had been leading a consistent, happy Christian life. We know not which shall prosper, this or that, but we do know that God Himself giveth the increase. Calling in a very discouraging, indiffer ent neighborhood one afternoon, the Bible woman found a young girl who confessed that she did not know the Lord as her Saviour because no one had ever spoken to her personally about Him. An accident to the mother kept the girl home from school, from church and a girl’s usual com panionships. The conversation was inter rupted by callers, but a few days later dur ing a visit by appointment, the girl, after hearing God’s plan of salvation, quietly but surely accepted Him. Subsequent visits with a marked Testament, tracts and help ful books have found this isolated girl growing in grace and in the knowledge of God, ministering in the home with blessed results. A wealthy business man, appealed to for money to assist a young girl in deep need, sent for one of the Bible women to investi gate the case. She found the situation un usually sad, the girl, an orphan, having
