year, a time for family gatherings, gratitude, and, of course, delicious food. However, for many, this holiday comes with feelings of guilt and anxiety due to the overindulgence that often accompanies the meal. Whether it's concern about health or maintaining the progress of a healthy lifestyle, the fear of losing control can overshadow the enjoyment. In this article, we will explore how to transform the festive dinner into an opportunity to nourish the body without sacrificing flavor, allowing you to enjoy the meal fully without regret. hanksgiving dinner is one of the most anticipated holidays of the T How to Savor Delicious Dishes While Staying True to Your Health Goals Healthy Thanksgiving Recipes: Enjoying the Feast Without Guilt The Problem of Guilt in Festive Meals It’s common for many of us to have a complicated relationship with food, especially during the holidays. The Thanksgiving tradition is full of foods rich in fats, sugars, and carbohydrates, which can make people anxious about deviating from their healthy habits. For those who have been focusing on their physical well-being or following a specific diet plan, the idea of “losing progress” or “ruining” their work can bring significant emotional weight. This feeling of guilt not only affects the dinner experience but can also linger after the holidays with thoughts of regret and self- judgment.

The good news is you don’t need to give up traditions to keep a healthy approach this season. A Thanksgiving dinner can be delicious, nutritious, and satisfying with some simple adjustments. The key is preparing dishes that offer flavor and nutritional value without excess. Below are some healthy recipe ideas that you can incorporate for a balanced and flavorful meal. Transforming Thanksgiving Dinner into a Healthy Experience

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup Starter:

Butternut squash soup is a classic that can be a light and nutritious option to start the meal. The squash is rich in fiber, vitamin A, and antioxidants, which help improve digestion and support eye health. This recipe is made by roasting the squash with spices like ginger and turmeric, which not only add flavor but also offer anti-inflammatory benefits. Serve this soup as a starter and enjoy a warm, comforting dish that helps control appetite before the main course.

Page 08

Herb and Lemon Roasted Turkey Main Dish:

Healthy Apple Pie with Oats and Cinnamon Dessert: Dessert is often one of the most anticipated parts of the meal, but also one of the most feared due to sugar and calories. For a healthier option, make an apple pie with an oat and cinnamon crust. Oats are an excellent source of soluble fiber, which helps maintain stable blood sugar levels. Plus, cinnamon adds natural sweetness without needing excess sugar. This dessert offers the classic taste of apple pie, but in a much more nutritious and lighter version.

Turkey is the star of Thanksgiving dinner, and you can prepare it in a healthy way without losing the essence of the dish. Instead of using butter or additional fats, try roasting the turkey with a mixture of fresh herbs like rosemary, thyme, and sage, along with lemon juice for a fresh flavor. Roasting the turkey this way reduces unnecessary calories while imparting a deep, aromatic flavor. Turkey is an excellent source of lean protein, and its tryptophan content also helps promote a good mood.

Garlic Mashed Cauliflower with Olive Oil Side Dish:

Final Tips Enjoy Without Regret:

Mashed potatoes are a Thanksgiving favorite, but they can be high in carbs and fats. A healthy and delicious alternative is mashed cauliflower, which mimics the creamy texture of mashed potatoes without the extra calories. Cauliflower is rich in vitamins C and K, and its low-calorie content makes it an ideal choice. To prepare, steam the cauliflower and blend it with roasted garlic and a splash of olive oil. This gives it a mild, delicious flavor, perfect as a side dish. Roasted Vegetables with Balsamic Roasted vegetables are a colorful and nutrient- packed option to accompany any main dish. Use a mix of carrots, broccoli, zucchini, and bell peppers, and roast them with a touch of balsamic vinegar for a slightly sweet flavor. Roasted vegetables not only add color and texture to the meal, but they also provide a great amount of fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Plus, roasting helps preserve their natural flavor without needing to add fats.

Thanksgiving dinner should be a celebration, a time to share and give thanks. Remembering that food is part of the experience but not the center of everything can help reduce anxiety and guilt. Before the meal, it's helpful to remind yourself that every choice you make can align with your health values without being restrictive or extreme. By focusing on natural and balanced foods, you can enjoy the meal fully without feeling like you’re sacrificing your goals. Also, take the time to savor each bite and pay attention to your hunger cues. Mindful eating can help you feel satisfied with less, focusing on quality over quantity. Ultimately, Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate life and gratitude, and the true richness of the holiday lies in the company and the memories shared.

Holistic Health and the Pressure to Be Perfect Embrace Your Imperfections and Discover True Well-Being Through Holistic Practices

Holistic health is an approach that considers the person as a whole, integrating body, mind, and spirit. Unlike other approaches that focus solely on the physical aspect, holistic health promotes balance in all areas of life, recognizing that true health cannot be achieved without overall well- being. This approach invites us to care not only for our bodies but also for our minds and emotions, seeking a harmony that allows us to live authentically and without the pressure to meet external standards. Holistic health helps us accept our imperfections, understand that we are more than our appearance, and realize that true beauty lies in authenticity. What is Holistic Health and How Does it Help?

In the age of social media and constant exposure, the pressure to project an image of perfection has become more intense than ever. Many people feel the need to maintain an ideal appearance, whether in terms of physicality, lifestyle, or personal success, which can create a deep disconnect between the image we show and who we truly are. This article explores how holistic health can be a powerful tool for freeing ourselves from that pressure and helping us find peace in authenticity, promoting a balanced and genuine life. The Pressure to Be Perfect in a Digital World Social media has changed the way we relate to ourselves and others. While it can be a source of inspiration, it can also fuel the need to compare ourselves with others, triggering insecurities and creating a distorted image of reality. The perfection we see in posts, ideal bodies, and seemingly "perfect" lives can make us feel like we're not enough. This pressure affects our mental, emotional, and often physical health as we try to meet unrealistic standards. For many, this pressure becomes an obstacle to living a full life, as constant comparison and self-expectations can lead to exhaustion, anxiety, and a loss of connection with oneself. So, how can we free ourselves from this need for perfection? This is where holistic health becomes a path of healing and self-awareness.

Page 10

4. Practicing Movement from Pleasure, Not from Expectation Exercise doesn't have to be a source of pressure or punishment. Practicing movement with the goal of enjoyment, rather than achieving a physical ideal, can be a powerful release. Whether walking in nature, practicing yoga, or dancing, choose activities that genuinely make you feel good and honor your body.

Practicing Authenticity Through Holistic Health

To free ourselves from the pressure to be perfect and begin living authentically, it's helpful to adopt practices that foster connection with ourselves and self-awareness. Below are some holistic health practices that can help you reduce the impact of external pressure and feel more comfortable with who you truly are. 1. Meditation to Reduce Anxiety and Connect with Your Inner Self Meditation is a powerful tool to calm the mind and reduce anxiety. By meditating, we create a space of stillness that allows us to observe our thoughts and emotions without judgment. Daily meditation can help you disconnect from external expectations and focus on what really matters: your inner peace. 2. Journaling to Accept and Express Your Feelings Writing about our thoughts and emotions helps us process them and understand where they come from. Keeping a journal is a way to give voice to your insecurities and, at the same time, find gratitude for the parts of you that you've learned to accept. You can start with a simple question: "What do I truly value about myself?" 3. Mindful Eating to Cultivate Self-Love The way we eat largely reflects how we treat ourselves. Adopting mindful eating, based on respect and self-love, is a way to nourish both the body and the soul. Rather than seeing food as a source of guilt or restriction, mindful eating invites us to listen to what our body truly needs and respond to those needs with compassion.

A Path to Freedom Freeing yourself from the pressure to be perfect is not something that happens overnight. It is a journey of self-awareness and self-acceptance, one that is traveled through connection with your being and the commitment to live authentically. Holistic health offers us the tools to embrace our vulnerability, recognize ourselves as whole beings, and understand that, in the end, true beauty lies in the peace we find by being ourselves. Allow yourself to live without the burden of perfection, and you'll discover that being real is, ultimately, the path to a full and balanced life. Accepting Imperfection and Celebrating Authenticity Holistic health reminds us that perfection is an illusion and that true well-being comes from accepting ourselves as we are. Living authentically is an act of courage, especially in a world that constantly tells us we need to be something else. Authenticity becomes a refuge, a source of peace and strength that frees us from the pressure to be perfect.

The importance of The sense of smell

The sense of smell holds a significant role in our lives and can also be utilized beneficially in healing practices. Unlike other senses, scents are experienced even before words, making them deeply connected to our emotions and memories. Beyond simply being a pleasant experience, the power of smell extends to influencing our biochemistry and nervous system in various ways.

Aromatherapy, a practice that utilizes essential oils, has gained popularity for its therapeutic benefits. These oils have the ability to facilitate quick emotional responses, impacting our mood and overall well-being. From relieving stress and stabilizing mood to improving sleep quality and alleviating pain and nausea, essential oils can truly change the way our nervous system functions.

ESSENTIAL OILS CAN FACILITATE A QUICK EMOTIONAL RESPONSE.

Furthermore, essential oils are potent biochemical agents that aid in emotional balance, well-being, and the release of toxins. They can be integrated into comprehensive healing programs or used in conjunction with other treatments to create a successful approach to mental and emotional health. By harnessing the power of scents, we tap into a natural and holistic way of healing and self-care. The aromas we encounter can have profound effects on our minds and body, and embracing the benefits of aromatherapy can lead to a more balanced and harmonious existence. As we continue to explore the potential of scents in healing work, we discover the transformative influence they have on our overall health and wellness.

The Founding and Growth of Othership From Backyard Sauna to Urban Oasis:

1. Who are the founders and what in their lives caused them to have the vision of Othership? There are five of us: me, my wife Emily Bent, and our co-founders and best friends Amanda Laine, Harrison Taylor, and Myles Farmer. We started Othership based on a mutual interest in developing healthier communities. My wife Emily introduced me to the practice of saunas and cold plunges at the beginning of my sobriety journey in 2017. We both found these experiences so impactful that we did it across our travels together for four years, even bringing groups along instead of going to a bar for drinks. Amanda and Harry had also traveled and experienced different sauna techniques as well, and Myles had worked in hospitality for years. pandemic has blossomed into Othership, a revolutionary wellness venture. Founded by Emily Bent and her co-founders—Amanda Laine, Harrison Taylor, Myles Farmer, and the author—Othership emerged from a shared desire to enhance emotional well-being and community connection. This article delves into the origins, rapid growth, and future plans of Othership, highlighting how a simple, impactful idea has evolved into a transformative experience. ice bath in Toronto during the W hat started as a backyard sauna and

At the height of the COVID pandemic, the five of us decided to build an ice bath in my backyard in Toronto. Every night, one of us would work and host a guided ice bath with a fire. And every day, you could just come and use it for free. If you knew where it was, you could just let yourself in. There was a neighbourhood Whatsapp group that grew to 300 people. We added a sauna and began to integrate emotional wellness programming and classes. We discovered that the combination of hot and cold immersion acted as a powerful social tool, breaking down barriers and fostering connection. This became the basis for Othership.

Page 14

2. From vision to opening, how many years/months passed and what were some of the biggest challenges in transitioning from vision to opening? It all happened very quickly. We signed a lease during lockdown and the Adelaide location launched February 2022. Initially, people thought we were nuts, but we knew from the garage how strong the experience was. We knew it would be helpful to people struggling with loneliness and stress, and to help people connect with themselves and one another in new ways. So we took the risk. Expansion happened quickly as well, bringing challenges with it. Building out locations— especially in different regulatory environments— has had a steep learning curve, as has designing and training for our classes. Our goal is making sure they stay authentic and inspire emotional transformation..

5. Where else do you plan on opening locations? We're trying to expand in New York specifically at the moment, and then move on to build opening teams and expand across the Northeast (Boston, Washington, Chicago, and Philadelphia are all on our radar) and then larger markets like Texas, Florida, and California. 6. Is franchising part of the growth plan? Not at the moment. Business priorities over the next year include scaling the team, raising more funding to build out a number of new units in New York, and building an opening team to start opening new markets as well. 7. Other than Canada and the United States, are there other countries you are considering? The plan is really to expand aggressively across the US. We believe that this can work in any city where people are struggling and stressed and will be a great option in all urban environments. We want to create community in other urban environments to make people feel less lonely and to give them a new place to connect.

3. What were/are the target demographics targeted? Othership is a space for all: those who thrive in their busy work life and want to take care of their emotional and physical health, those looking for a community for social well-being, fitness enthusiasts who undergo physical stress and are looking for a place to recover, and all human beings that want to feel better. 4. How many locations currently exist? We currently have three: two thriving locations in Toronto, and our recently-opened Ship in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. We’ve broken ground on a second New York location, which will open in Williamsburg in 2025.

However, Othership Manhattan has managed to create a unique space where people can disconnect from external noise and reconnect with their inner well-being. This innovative wellness center combines ice baths, hot saunas, and essential oils to provide an immersive experience that goes beyond physical relaxation. Recovery has evolved significantly in recent years. It's no longer just about resting after a long workday or an intense workout session. Modern recovery involves a holistic approach that encompasses the body, mind, and spirit. Othership Manhattan understands this need and has designed a space that blends traditional wellness techniques with innovative practices to offer a transformative experience. One of Othership's cornerstones is contrast therapy, which involves alternating between ice baths and hot saunas. This technique, used for centuries in various cultures, has proven health benefits. The cold helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and stimulate the immune system, while the heat from the sauna promotes detoxification and muscle relaxation. By combining these techniques, Othership enables clients to experience complete and deep recovery. Sensory Experience and Mental Health What truly sets Othership apart is its focus on sensory experience. Each session is designed to immerse clients in an environment of tranquility and peace.

Page 16

Othership Manhattan is more than just a wellness center; it is a sanctuary where individuals can disconnect from the external world and reconnect with themselves. Through a combination of physical therapies, healing aromas, and conscious breathing practices, Othership offers a recovery experience that goes beyond the traditional. Ultimately, Othership Manhattan is revolutionizing the way people perceive wellness, offering a complete sensory experience that allows for true reconnection with oneself.

Essential oils play a crucial role in this process, as their aromatic properties help calm the mind and balance emotions. In addition to physical benefits, Othership also emphasizes mental health. During sessions, clients are guided through conscious breathing exercises that allow them to disconnect from daily stress and focus on the present. to reinvent yourself through fashion. Autumn, with its warm tones and crisp air, invites you to explore styles that reflect your essence and beauty. However, seasonal transitions can also bring insecurities about how to dress and feel good, especially when trying to balance comfort and style. This article is here to help you discover fall outfits that not only suit your body but also boost your confidence and help you feel like your true self. he change of seasons brings more than just cooler weather; it’s an opportunity T Discover Beauty and Confidence This Season Fashion is more than just clothing; it’s a powerful tool to express identity and mood. Wearing outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident is a form of self-care. However, many of us face insecurities related to body image or struggle to adapt our style to the season. It’s common to feel like "nothing fits right" or that you can’t find the right style to highlight your unique personality. These feelings can impact your confidence and make it harder to embrace your true self. The Connection Between Fashion and Confidence

The first step to finding outfits that truly make you feel good is to redefine what fall fashion means to you. Instead of seeing trends as rigid rules, think of fashion as a way to express yourself and adapt it to your personal needs. Earthy colors, cozy textures, and layering are staples of the season that can help you create looks that reflect both your inner and outer beauty. Here are some outfit ideas and tips to choose fall clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident, regardless of your body type or current trends. A leather bag or boots in earthy tones can also be key pieces to complete your look with elegance and sophistication. Tips to Boost Confidence Through Fashion Here are some additional tips to enhance your confidence when choosing your fall outfits: • Stay true to your personal style: You don’t need to follow every trend. If something doesn’t resonate with you, it’s okay not to adopt it. • Invest in quality pieces: Instead of buying many low-quality items, opt for a few high-quality pieces that you truly love and that make you feel good. • Embrace your body as it is today: Fashion is a tool to highlight your best self. You don’t need to wait for your body to change to look and feel amazing. • Trust your intuition: At the end of the day, you know what makes you feel good.

Autumn tones like brown, terracotta, olive green, and mustard yellow are warm and comforting, but not all shades suit everyone. Emotional Healing and Relationships

Interpersonal relationships are a vital part of life, yet they often come with emotional complexities and lingering wounds from the past. These painful experiences can impact our ability to form genuine, healthy connections. As we strive to build deeper relationships, it’s essential to recognize the emotional wounds we carry, understand how they affect our interactions, and work toward healing to open ourselves to more authentic and fulfilling connections. Deep Connections Healing Old Wounds to Build Real Relationships

Unresolved Pain and Its Impact on Current Relationships

Throughout life, it’s common to face disappointments, betrayals, or breakups that leave emotional scars. When these wounds are not adequately addressed, they can linger in our subconscious, shaping how we relate to others. Past experiences may lead to fear of abandonment, distrust, or self- sabotaging patterns that undermine current relationships. For example, someone who has been hurt in the past may build emotional walls to protect themselves, making it difficult to foster closeness in new relationships. Others may develop emotional dependence, constantly seeking external validation to fill internal voids. Identifying these patterns is the first critical step toward healing and building healthier connections.

Healing emotional wounds from the past takes time and, most importantly, a willingness to confront pain constructively. It’s essential to accept that everyone has aspects of their history that affect them, and healing is rarely a linear journey. Below are some strategies to start your healing journey and improve your relationships: The Healing Process: Acknowledging and Embracing the Past

1.Practice Self-Reflection and Awareness Self-reflection is crucial for identifying behavioral patterns and emotions that

interactions. Journaling your thoughts and emotions can be a helpful tool to bring hidden patterns to light and promote self-awareness.

These practices help center the mind, reduce stress, and keep you grounded in the present instead of dwelling on past pain or future anxieties. Meditation can teach you to observe your thoughts and emotions without judgment, fostering self-compassion and greater self- understanding.

2.Work on Forgiveness: Letting Go of Emotional Baggage

Forgiveness is a powerful healing tool. It doesn’t mean excusing or forgetting the pain caused, but rather releasing the power that experience holds over you. Forgiveness is an act of self-love that allows you to let go of resentment and create space for new experiences. This process can be gradual— acknowledge the pain, allow yourself to feel the emotions, but don’t let them define or control your relationships. The Path to Holistic Fulfillment Integrating Your Life Modern life often pushes us to achieve success in specific areas, such as work, relationships, or health. However, it's common to feel that even when we make progress in some aspects, something always seems to be missing to achieve true fulfillment. This feeling of emptiness can lead to dissatisfaction, anxiety, and constant exhaustion in trying to balance everything. In this article, we’ll explore how to integrate all areas of your life to achieve complete well-being and reduce the sense that “it’s never enough.” Many people compartmentalize their lives into "boxes" such as work, family, friendships, health, and personal growth. This fragmentation often leads to focusing all your energy on one area while neglecting others, creating emotional and physical imbalance. For example, someone may prioritize work excessively while neglecting their health or relationships, only to later realize they don’t feel truly fulfilled. The Fragmentation of Life and Its Effects The feeling that “something is always missing” often stems from not seeing life as a connected whole. When one part of our life feels incomplete, it affects the others. That’s why integrating all areas of life is key to finding satisfaction and inner peace.

Step 1: Self-Assessment and Priorities To integrate all areas of your life, the first step is to honestly evaluate each aspect. Reflect on how you feel about your work, relationships, health, hobbies, and personal growth. Ask yourself if any of these areas have been neglected or if there’s one that feels especially important right now. Setting priorities is essential. Identifying the areas that need more attention and those that are already balanced can help you distribute your time and energy more effectively. Remember, your priorities can change over time, and it’s okay to adjust your focus as you evolve.

If you’re passionate about a project at work, consider how you can grow personally through it. By connecting different areas of life, you can experience greater harmony and reduce the sense of sacrifice in each aspect. The Importance of Self-Care and Inner Peace Self-care is an essential piece of the life integration process. Taking time to care for yourself and listen to your needs allows you to stay aligned with your goals. Inner peace develops when you recognize that you deserve well-being in all areas of life and that each aspect is valuable. Self-care can take many forms: A day of rest A meditation practice A creative activity Even simply disconnecting from work to enjoy a quiet meal This time for yourself enables you to recharge and connect with your purpose. By dedicating yourself to your well-being and personal needs, you strengthen your ability to face challenges in other areas of your life. The feeling that “something is always missing” can be challenging, but it’s also an opportunity to reevaluate your priorities and work on integrating all areas of life. Balance is not rigid or an unattainable ideal but a process of constant adjustment and self-compassion. True fulfillment comes from accepting each aspect of your life as valuable and working to integrate them instead of viewing them as separate goals.

Once you’ve identified your priorities, the next step is to establish habits that allow you to maintain balance across the different areas of life. Create a routine that includes time for physical health, work, family, and leisure. For instance, you could incorporate daily exercise to take care of your health, schedule quality moments with loved ones, and reserve time for rest and recreation. Small habits like meditating for five minutes in the morning, reading a book before bed, or taking a walk can have a significant impact on your overall well- being, helping you feel progress in each area of your life. Step 2: Building Habits That Foster Balance Integrating life is not a rigid process; it requires adapting to changes and challenges. Practicing flexibility means allowing yourself to adjust plans and priorities as needed without feeling guilty or like a failure. Step 3: Practicing Flexibility and Self- Compassion Self-compassion is essential for accepting that you won’t always be perfect in every area, and that’s okay. It’s normal to sometimes focus more on work or family, but it’s important to remember that these periods don’t define the value of your life. Practicing self-compassion involves understanding that you’re doing the best you can and that balance is something built over time, not an immediate goal. Step 4: Creating Connections Between Life Areas An effective way to integrate all areas of life is by finding connections between them. Instead of viewing work, health, relationships, and personal growth as separate aspects, look for ways they can complement each other. For example, you could engage in sports or physical activities with friends or family, fostering both health and relationships.
