Heart for the World Magazine - Vol. 1

AN ARTICLE

The questions came in waves: Why did this happen? Where was God in all of this? Would I ever feel whole again? It was in this place of deep sorrow that I realized the true meaning of faith in the fire. Just as God didn’t prevent Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from entering the fire, He didn’t spare me from the pain of losing my brother. But He was with me in it. In the quiet moments of grief, I felt His presence, not as a distant deity, but as a comforting friend. There were days when I could only cry out to Him, and He was there, providing a peace that surpasses understanding. This was my furnace, and though the flames were fierce, God walked with me through every moment.

Now working with Bernie Moore Ministries, a place where I could pour out my heart and use my skills to impact the nations, not just a city. In this new chapter, I can see how God is making room for me, even in the midst of my pain. My fire allowed me to connect with others, to share my story, and to see firsthand how God can use our gifts to open doors, even when we feel most broken. The fire of loss did not consume me; instead, it refined me. Through it, God made space for healing, growth, and purpose. My passion for the lost, which I once doubted in the shadow of my grief, became the very avenue through which God brought restoration.

Finding God in the Flames

Faith in the fire is not about escaping the flames but about finding God within them. The story of Daniel 3 teaches us that God’s presence is not limited to our moments of triumph; He is with us in our deepest sorrows and darkest trials. The loss of my brother was a fire that tested my faith, but it was also a place where I encountered God in a new and profound way. Through it all, I have come to understand that faith is not the absence of doubt or pain, but the assurance that God is with us, even when the flames are hottest. My work with Bernie Moore Ministries has shown me that God can take our pain and use it to create something beautiful, making room for us in ways we could never have imagined. If you find yourself in the fire, remember that God is there with you. He may not always remove the flames, but He will walk with you through them, bringing you out on the other side, refined, strengthened, and with a deeper understanding of His love and grace.

A Gift that Made Room

“A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16). This verse became a beacon of hope during my time of grief. In the midst of loss, it was easy to feel like life had come to a standstill, but God, in His infinite wisdom, had other plans. My talents as a campus pastor, communicator, leader, and more were all on the line as I once considered giving it all up. However, it was in the fire that God stirred the gift of Evangelism that had laid dormant for years and was now brought to the surface. It was no longer about reaching my community, but reaching the Nations because there was a Theo in every nation that needed to hear the Lord’s name proclaimed. This very gift is what led to me meeting Ev. Bernie Moore, which led to a divine conversation and encounter that would shape the future of my family's life.
