The role. Canterbury Christ Church University Director of Quality and Standards

Job Description

About the Department The Quality and Standards Office (QSO) functions in a University-wide context and has a central role in ensuring that there is effective academic governance and a rigorous and responsive quality assurance infrastructure to support it. Working in partnership with faculties, schools and academic staff, it plays the lead role in ensuring that the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students, the Quality Assurance Agency and Professional Regulatory and Statutory Bodies. The University is identifying new areas of activity, including the creation of the Kent and Medway Medical School in partnership with the University of Kent, undergraduate and postgraduate apprenticeships, micro-credentials, and delivering an increased range and complexity of international and UK partnerships. The Quality and Standards Office will take the lead in ensuring that academic risk is managed effectively, and that flexible and timely outcomes are achieved without loss of robustness. The Quality and Standards Office promotes and maintains standards through an on-going cycle of course approval and review, the operation of the external examiner system, and the governance of collaborative provision. Working across the University and particularly with Learning and Teaching Enhancement (LTE), it plays a major role in enabling the University to deliver an outstanding academic portfolio, underpinned by an outcomes-led process of continuous improvement.
