Fylde Hawks 31 v 29 Macclesfield 2nds

The Hawks notched their first win of their 2025-26 season in their third match of the campaign when they edged a win over Macclesfield 2nd team by 31-29 at the Woodlands, mirroring the Fylde 1st XV’s narrow 19-21 victory at Priory Park against the Cheshire club’s 1st XV.

Fylde’s tries were by Kyle Macauley (3), Dan Slawson and Jack King. Slawson converted three of the five in the ferocious wind. Manager/Coach Jay Harrison said: Things looked promising with an early try but, with a quick response and few unanswered, it looked like it was going to be a rough day at the office. I think some of the guys have struggled to get into the game, I think, partly due with the stop-start nature of the beginning of the season. This was not helped by the league assigning us two weeks off in the first three. We did show some grit though and I was proud of us not giving up and holding on for the last five minutes under a lot of pressure.

The Fylde line-up was as illustrated.

Macc’s team was: 15 Edward Tomlinson; 14 William Richardson, 13 Robbie Jennings, 12 Tom Blackwell, 11 James Lancaster; 10 Richard Hopkin, 9 James Milan; 8 Carl Droy, 7 Isaac Ransom, 6 ? ?, 5 Joshua DeGroot, 4 Miles Bloor, 3 Daniel Percival, 2 Johnson Chandigere, 1 Dale Crompton. Substitutes: Isaac Ransom
