A CALL TO ACTION FROM THE PRE ANTHONYHOSKISSON
both to the General Committee and ask Members to meet up with them, have a chat and accentuate this welcome when they are able. AS I HAVE STATED ABOVE, THE CLUB IS RUN ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS BY INDIVIDUALS STANDING UP TO TAKE ON VERY IMPORTANT ROLES, ALL OF WHICH ARE DONE ON
MATT FILIPO We would like to place on record our gratitude to Matt Filipo. He has been associated with the Club since he first came to these shores from New Zealand in 1996. Matt has served the club as a player representing all teams at some
stage in his distinguished career as well as being 1st XV captain (2000-2003), being a coach in the Mini juniors as well as volunteering in many different roles, most notably facilitating barbecues during the summer and more recently helping with the catering provision in the downstairs hatch. Matt has served as Chairman from 2021 until Sept 2025. All of these roles he has undertaken as a volunteer. Without such dedicated volunteers, our club would not survive and he has led by example with regards to this never afraid to roll his sleeves up! Matt will continue to volunteer
A VOLUNTEERING BASIS. WE MUST REMEMBER THE GREAT DEBT THAT ALL OF OUR MEMBERS OWE THESE INDIVIDUALS AND SUPPORT THEM WHENEVER POSSIBLE BY PROVIDING CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK. How can you help? This is a real call to action. There are numerous opportunities for members and parents where you could assist those already actively helping our great club. Please see the list below and a broad outline of what is required in each area. The Friday Club This is a group to whom we owe so much. They meet regularly on a Friday, although in recent weeks have been known to be in the Club most days. They are responsible for lots of general maintenance around and about the Club, both inside and outside. Most recently they have been responsible for redecoration in certain areas of the Clubhouse ie The Den, formally known as the Arthur Bell room. The list could go on and on. Over the last few years they have saved the Club literally thousands of pounds and are always looking for people to help them. If you’re passionate about DIY, please let us know as your services will be very much appreciated. Fylde Ladies A wonderful group of our women members facilitate match day fundraising with the now famous Fylde raffle, as well as organising events. The most noticeable event is Fylde Ladies Day which is enjoyed by many. They would like to arrange and organise more events and are always looking for volunteers to help with these. If you have been involved in fundraising activities of any kind and would like to see
in various aspects of the club but has relinquished his position as Chairman for a number of reasons. Matt has been working very closely with Matt Thompson who has been acting as a Vice Chairman for the last six months. Before Matt
made his decision to resign he consulted with MattT as to whether he would be happy to take on the role which we are delighted to confirm that he has agreed to. In line with the Club’s constitution this change was proposed to the General Committee on the 30th of September, was unanimously agreed by all present, and took effect from the 1st of October. Matt Thompson said: “It’s an honour to take on the role of Chairman at Fylde with deep rooted history and strong community spirit. Fylde has always stood for more than just rugby — it’s about values, teamwork and pride in the shirt. My focus is on building on that legacy, supporting our teams at every level, and ensuring the club continues to thrive for generations to come.” We also have a new Treasurer, Matthew Pomroy, who has been involved recently with the Mini-Juniors. We welcome
