THE K I N G ' S BUS I NE S S markedly here, the moral distinctions are accompanied by a time-separation too. Seven days intervened between God’s gathering of His people into the ark and the beginning of the Flood. Gen. 7:1-4, 7-10. So also the Lord said to Lot: “ I cannot do anything till thou be come thither” i.e., to the city of refuge from the judgment. It seems difficult to deny that the two moral aspects of the Second Advent represent two stages, even as they do in the analogous events of the past; for, conversely, this time-separation has a great moral significance for the people of God. It shows that God will not consume the righteous with the wicked, and it shows the way He takes to pre vent it. It shows that when the cup of the wicked is full, God both calls His children out from among them, and takes them out. It shows that His people, who shall never come into judg ment spiritually, shall never be allow ed to remain literally under His pour- ed-out wrath, whenever He arises to perform His strange and special acts of judgment upon the earth. If it has been so on those former occasions which shook the earth, and which our Lord uses as figures of the Great Tribu lation, how much more on the latter oc casion, when hell shall empty its im prisoned spirits into the earth to fill the nations with a mania for the last concerted act of God defiance! Probably the particular reasons for such a rapture as in previous cases will become more clear as we get nearer the event. Possibly some Russian and Irish Christians appreciate the sover eign grâce of such an event more than we do. - Surely the gathering of con summate wickedness into a world-sys tem which threatens the existence of all flesh, calls ,for such deliverances and judgments as we find revealed in the days of Noah, the days of Lot, and the days of the Coming of the Son of Man.

That Day Shall Not Come Except There Come a Palling Away First, and the Law less One Be Revealed, The Son o f Perdi tion.— 2 Thess. 2:3.

E are living in days of lawless ness. There are great move ments going on in the world today, whose object is to

bring about a condition of lawlessness in the world. In the last thirty years, it is said, there have been 3224 people lynched in the United States. Every one of these lynchings was accomplish ed through lawlessness. Mob rule is raising its ugly head all over the world. Even in America, respectable citizens are organizing themselves into perma nent clans and societies, to take the law into their own hands. Anarchism is raising its banner of red in all nations of the earth. Everywhere we hear the cry of men demanding the overthrow of authority. The authority of the home is mocked, the authority of the nation is mocked, rulers are scorned, kings are dethroned, and the mob is even now reaching up to high heaven, de manding the overthrow of the very throne of God itself. Some time ago there was circulated in New York, the following awful circular : “ To hell with your nations; to hell with the United States of America; to hell with your Constitution; to hell with your churches; to hell with your synagogues; to hell with your courts; to hell with your capitalists; to hell with your wage system; to hell with your short hours, your big wages and your better living conditions. To hell with your whole Social System! It is wrong and we comrades of the Revolu tionary Brotherhood will overthrow it, because you are robbers, exploiters of
