tricts in California,” you report the finding of an Evangelist who says that certain counties of a sadd area are without churches and that one coun ty famous for “ Lumber Camps,” having 40,000 people, has 18 churches but 11 of them are abandoned— here a- gain there is no explanation. The rea sons for these places being closed are: 1st—a good man will begin a work for God in a given com munity and ha finds success. The bless ing of God is upon him and souls are saved. He with the people will build a humble place of meeting and all is well. But alas the Devil is on hand to spoil it. A Presbyterian comes in to see df he can find some of his kind. If there are a few, he reports that they ought to be cared for. Then the M. E.; then the Baptist, then the Camp- bellites, then the Romanists, then the Eddyite and when they are all through, L there is no church; no Gospel— the peo ple are divided and fighting, and last of all, the preacher must go or starve. This is true and I have gone through the experience where a good church and a six room house were built and paid for. and the people united. So much so, that 100 per cent of the young people were found at the open air meeting at the bunk houses and Hotel on Sunday evening, but a sectarian came in and divided the people and later he was starved out. On the other hand regarding the neg lected districts where there are no churches;— what they need is not church buildings but a good man in a central location who is willing to carry the Gospel to them where they are and gather them into the homes in every small community to study the Word of God. It would be impossible to build church buildings for such people, be cause hundreds of them could never at tend on account of the long and diffi cult roads. If the preachers now on

of God and understands the situation. It carries with it a word of warning and a suggested remedy. Seattle, Wash. Editor, The King’s Business, Los Angeles, Calif., Dear Brother. On P. 750 of your August number of the King’s Business, you give the cor rected statistics regarding churches without ministers. All you say is true, but you do not even offer a word as to the remedy. Why not7 If you do not know the remedy here it is. In one town of Washington of 2250 people there are 14 sects, each having a building and most of them having a preacher. If this town had one Spirit- fllled Bible preacher, it would be fully manned and taken care of. Then we would have plenty of men to send to the needy places where there is no preacher, and it would be a great and lasting blessing from God df 49,000 more of these so-called churches were closed and God’s children not hounded to death for money to support such a group of idle and unnecessary men in the community. You refer on page 751 to other business prospering and ’’God’s business being run on a such a slip-shod fashion.” Why? Because no town of 2250 people ever had 14 butcher shops nor any other kind of shop. The world’s busi ness is being run by business men, and God’s business by sectarian bigots whose zeal for show is far beyond their zeal for souls.
