Could the Shunammite ever doubt a prayer-hearing God again? Could she ever disbelieve in the resur rection power of God?
Who was ahead as they returned to the Shunammite’s home? What did Gehazi do? What did he say when he returned to Elisha? What did Elisha see when he entered his room on the wall? What did Elisha do after shutting the door? What next did Elisha do? What happened to the son when Eli sha stretched himself upon him the first time? What happened when he stretched himself upon him the second time? What did Elisha tell Gehazi to do? What did Elisha tell the woman to do? What did she do? Practical Questions. What are the points of greatness In this woman’s character? How did she perceive that Elisha was a man of God? Ought we to provide a place for the men of God in our midst? Is it easy to find a place to entertain the preacher or the evangelist today? Was the man of God a blessing to that home? In what way? Why could she say it was well with the child, although it was dead? Who carried the lad to his mother? Who held him and cared for him till he died? Who went after the man of God? Who said it was well with the child and the husband? Who carried the spiritual responsi bility in this home? Why did not the husband do some thing in this time of need? Why did she fall at the prophet’s feet in verse 37? Could this family ever doubt the reality of God? What was Elisha’s method in raising this son to life?
Elislia Brings a Boy to Life. 2 Kings 4:8-37. Memory Verse.— “ The Lord is gra cious and merciful.” Ps. 111:4. Approach.—We remember how the prophet Elijah went home to heaven in a beautiful chariot of fire, while he and his friend Elisha were walking a- long together. Of BEGINNERS course Elisha miss- AND PRIMARY ed his friend, but Mabel L. Merrill he went about a- mong the people teaching them as he travelled about. One little town he visited was up on a hill. A rich woman and her husband lived there, who loved God, and were very kind to Elisha. The country a- bout this town was very beautiful with its pastures, orchards, flowers, woods, hills and mountains. There you could see the Lake of Galilee where Jesus so often went with His disciples when He was on earth. This rich woman who lived in the fine home on the farm, told Elisha to come to her house and eat his meals whenever he came that way. After a while the woman asked her husband to build on a room for Elisha the prophet of God, and fix it up nice for him, so that he would have a home and he could sleep there. My, how nice this was for Elisha to have this nice place to stop and rest on his trips. (Tell of Elisha’s gratefulness, and the promise and coming of the child into the home.) With the beau tiful home and all their money, these two people were lonely without any children, and just think how happy they were when this dear baby boy came to them in answer to Elisha’s prayer to God. As the boy grew from day to day
