THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NE S S Memory Verse.— “ He will give his angels charge over thee.” Ps. 91:11. Approach.— You know I saw a little boy the other day walking through the crowded streets of the city, and he was not the least bit afraid, and he was looking in the win- BEGINNERS dows seeing all the AND PRIMARY pretty things in the Mabel L. Merrill stores. He was only a little fellow not more than five years old, and he looked so happy. Why do you suppose he was not afraid to cross the streets with all the automobiles and street cars? I will tell you why he was not in the least frightened. Walking by the side of this little boy was a big, strong policeman who was holding the little boy’s hand. Some litttle boys might be afraid of policemen, but this one was not, the policeman was the boy’s father, / and of course he was not afraid. But boys and girls, do you know we who love Jesus, have some One that can watch over and take better care of us than even a policeman, for the Bible tells us that God sends His angels to watch over and help all the people who belong to Him. (Heb. 1:14). My! Is it not wonderful to have such a Saviour who loves us so much and has all these angels to help us. And you know the angels do the things God asks them to do. Prayer. Lesson Story.—We remember the story of the little girl who was carried away from her home into a strange land and placed in the home of the captain of the king’s army. What did this little girl do? Are we boys and girls who have so much to make us happy living right in our own homes, doing as this little girl did, telling others about Jesus? Elisha is still the faithful prophet of God in Israel, and our story shows us that Elisha was in a dangerous place, but you know it is just as easy for God to keep us in a dangerous place as it is in a safe place.
This is rather an exciting story, and O, so interesting. The king of Syria made war against God’s people Israel, and told his soldiers just where to go to find the king of Israel, but each time the king was gone. The king of Syria thought it very strange, and called his men and asked them which one was telling Israel’s king they were coming, and the men all answered and said not one, but that Elisha knew all that the king said even if he just whispered in his bedroom, and was telling the king of Israel each time, so that he could get away. How did Elisha know? God told him. Then the king sent a large number of his soldiers and char iots to take Elisha, and while Elisha and his servant were sound asleep in the night, these soldiers- surrounded the little city. When his servant got up early in the morning, he saw all this great army, and ran to Elisha greatly frightened, and said, “What shall we do?” Elisha told him not to fear, for there were more on their side than on the other. Children, how did Elisha count, for there were only two of them against that great army? Yes, God was on his side. (Recall this fascinat ing scene and tell the interesting de tails so that the boys and girls will see the picture, emphasizing. God’s power, and the fact that He is the same today as then. Heb. 13:8. Do we older ones realize how often we are saved, from dangers by the same ministry of His angels?) I will say our memory verse, and then I want you to say it after me. The next time you are afraid will you remember this verse, and trust Jesus, just like Elisha did? : ato Mk Perhaps others in your Sun day School are looking for such helps as are furnished in the K. B. Tell them about it.
