SALE PROCEDURE & SALE ORDER
RETAINED SEMEN INTEREST
Bulls will be available for viewing and bidding starting Friday, October 17, 2025. At this time, bulls are open for bidding at the starting bid listed in the sale book, and bids can be raised in $100 increments prior to sale day. The bidding process operates as a silent auction until 4:30 PM CDT Monday, October 27, 2025. The silent auction concludes with a live auction sale day. Sale order is established based on the number of bids on a bull as of 4:30pm CDT on sale day with the bulls with the most bids selling first. Any bulls without bids as of 4:30pm will sell in sale book order. PERFORMANCE DATA & GENOMIC TESTING Bulls are sold with the highest accuracy EPDs that can be provided on young sires. Genomic Enhanced EPDs (GE-EPDs) are generated on all bulls and backed by full performance information including carcass ultrasound. In addition to full GE-EPDs on the bull crop, our entire cow herd has also been genomic tested to ensure the most accurate genetic predictions possible. FREE DELIVERY All bulls qualify for free delivery within a 100-mile radius. All multiple bull purchases or individual bull purchases over $5,000 qualify for free delivery within a 200-mile radius. Purchases of $15,000 or more qualify for free delivery within a 300-mile radius. We offer free delivery on purchases provided the buyer is able to make arrangements to receive bulls when delivery is made in your area. Due to time constraints and fuel costs, we must consolidate trips. If you can’t make arrangements to receive your bull, you will need to arrange to pick up the bull at the farm. Bulls that are picked up at the farm can be held until November 30, 2025 free of charge. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before the sale
Oak Hollow will retain a one-half semen interest in every bull selling. Realistically, this would affect only a handful of bulls that sell. Oak Hollow reserves the right to collect semen at buyer’s convenience and Oak Hollow’s expense. If you sell your bull, Oak Hollow will still retain one-half semen interest. The buyer owns 100% possession and salvage value on the bull.
BREEDING GUARANTEE
Each bull sells with a breeding soundness evaluation (BSE) performed by a veterinarian. They are guaranteed for their first full breeding season, defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bull. If a bull develops a breeding injury that will not heal, a credit (minus any salvage value) will be issued. In addition to breeding guarantees, we also offer an injury guarantee on bulls selling for $5,000 and above. Multi-sire breeding groups will only be covered if all bulls in the group are purchased from Oak Hollow and of the same age. If a bull should have a physical injury in the first breeding season that will not heal, the buyer will receive a credit of 50% of the purchase price minus any salvage value. Credit will be made toward a future purchase or a replacement bull if one is available. A veterinarian must diagnose all infertile or injured bulls. Please notify us as soon as possible should an issue occur and prior to the bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by March 1, 2026. These are young bulls that are still developing and proper care and adequate nutrition is the responsibility of the buyer. This is not a life insurance policy. A bull will not be replaced due to death for any reason. Replacement bulls are not covered by this guarantee. SIGHT UNSEEN AND ABSENTEE BUYING If you are unable to attend the sale or view the bulls prior to sale day, we have a variety of ways to get you the bull you need through absentee bidding and sight unseen deliveries. Please contact us prior to the sale, and we would be more than happy to help you find the bull that fits both your breeding program and budget. Video of bulls will be available on our website in the weeks leading up to the sale. Before Sale Day, call Joe at (270) 202-4399 or register online at www.oakhollowangus.com to obtain a Telo- Auction bidder number for conference call bidding. HERD HEALTH
Oak Hollow cattle undergo some of the most rigorous vaccination and disease testing protocols anywhere. The calf crop and cow herd are vaccinated and disease tested under the consultation of Dr. Roger Thomas of Thomas & England Veterinary Service. All relevant disease testing is conducted on the full calf crop each year, including PI-BVD. Every vaccine, blood test and biosecurity measure is taken to ensure that nothing leaving our herd brings a problem into yours. All bulls are sold with the necessary health papers going to states that accept cattle without additional testing. If your state requires additional testing, this can be done the week following the sale.

12 TH ANNUAL FALL SALE | SMITHS GROVE, KY | OCTOBER 27, 2025
In introductory economics, there were a few short- hand sayings that were easy ways to remember con- cepts. The fact that I still remember them 17 years lat- er now tells me that they worked. For instance, I will never forget that inflation is too many dollars chasing too few goods. It was also so easy to remember that the cure for low prices was low prices and the cure for high prices was high prices. Grain and cattle guys are both living through the last one right now. While my education taught me how to think critically, I am far from being a market analyst. Please do not take the following words as Gospel. However, from my boots-on-the-ground vantage point, I think we are still pretty far from an antidote to high prices in the cattle business. I am not predicting that they will con- tinue this rapid ascent, but I don’t think they are going away anytime soon either. I was around in 2014, the last time the market was at the top of a cattle cycle. It felt like a boomtown. I couldn’t keep my phone charged because I was field- ing so many cold calls. Everyone and their brother (literally) were partnering on 40 heifers from the sale barn, and all they needed were two calving ease bulls to strike it rich on that lottery ticket. This past year has certainly been good to us, but I can go through a workday without taking my gloves off 10 times to answer a call from a number I don’t recognize. There is a lot less diving headfirst and a lot more proceed- ing with caution. In fact, I am getting more calls from LESSONS IN ECONOMICS From Newsletter 142 - September 2025
people wanting out of the business and wanting to know the market and if I have any leads, than I am getting calls from people wanting to expand or get in. From our own operation, my bred females have gone to people as a source for higher quality replacements than they can raise themselves. Their investment is just to keep their herd at replacement rate with some- thing a little better rather than to expand to capitalize on a record market. From our own experience, most of the extra cash flow from the high prices is going to infrastructure investment. I have spent more than I care to tabulate on labor-saving rotational grazing and lane systems in need of updating. The amount of water line that has been installed at our place in the last 18 months can be measured in miles rather than feet. Simply put, we have invested in optimizing our forage utilization rather than increasing the number of calves we have to sell. I am more interested in reducing labor and
12 TH ANNUAL FALL SALE | SMITHS GROVE, KY | OCTOBER 27, 2025 6
feed costs while increasing grazing days than I am in increasing the size of my calf crop. Despite over a year of a “good” market for cow-calf producers, my father and I just now had our first conversation about maybe keeping back our young open cull cows to put embry- os in instead of sending them to town. That is most certainly not an indication of the rapid expansion of our own cow herd. That is simply a way to better uti- lize our current facilities and acreage, rather than an indication of market signals telling me to expand the cow herd. Old guys are getting out. Young guys can’t afford to get in. Multigenerational operations in a po- sition to expand are tired and want no part of it, espe- cially if a proper succession plan isn’t in place. I recall Andy Bishop delivering his closing remarks at the annual convention in his final meeting, presiding as president of the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association. While reflecting back on his time of service and the year he had put in, he eloquently illustrated to the membership that the last year was a year held togeth- er by grass string, both literally and figuratively. As a child of a former KCA president, I can say it is most definitely a strain on both the operation and the fam- ily to serve in such a leadership position. He thanked his family for their unwavering support and was eager to get home and attend to a few chores that had been neglected. For far too long, cow-calf production has replaced grass string after grass string to hold things together. Based on what I am seeing, prices are just now high enough to finally hang a few gates. Until we, as a sector, attend to a few chores that have been ne- glected for the last few decades, I don’t think there will be a cure to these high prices anytime soon.

American Angus Association ® Selection Tools
Expected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Interim EPDs may appear on young animals when their performance has yet to be incorporated into the American Angus Association National Cattle Evaluation (NCE) procedures. This EPD will be preceded by an “I”, and may or may not include the animal’s own performance record for a particular trait, depending on its availability, appropriate contemporary grouping, or data edits needed for NCE. GROWTH
CARCASS The genetic evaluation produces a single set of EPDs for carcass weight, marbling score, Ribeye area and fat thickness. The units of measure are in carcass trait format and analyzed on an age- constant basis. Carcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires. $VALUE INDEXES $Value indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M), expressed in dollars per head, predicts profitability differences from conception to weaning with the underlying breeding objective assuming that individuals retain their own replacement females within herd and sell the rest of the cull female and all male progeny as feeder calves. The model assumes commercial producers will replace 25% of their breeding females in the first generation and 20% of their breeding females in each subsequent generation. Traits included are as follows: calving ease direct, calving ease maternal, weaning weight, milk, heifer pregnancy, docility, mature cow weight, claw set and foot angle. Weaned Calf Value ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for pre-weaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk, and mature cow size. Grid Value ($G), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires. Beef Value ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for post-weaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires. Combined Value ($C), expressed in dollars per head, is an index which includes all traits that make up both Maternal Weaned Calf Value ($M) and Beef Value ($B) with the objective that commercial producers will replace 20% of their breeding females per year with replacement heifers retained within their own herd. The remaining cull heifer and steer progeny are then assumed to be sent to the feedlot where the producers retain ownership of those cattle and eventually sell them on a quality-based carcass merit grid. EPDs directly influencing a combined index are: CED, CEM, WW, YW, Milk, HP, DOC, MW, Angle, Claw, DMI, Marb, CW, RE and Fat.
Calving Ease Direct (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers. Birth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires. Scrotal Circumference EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires. Docility (DOC), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves. Claw Set EPD (Claw), is expressed in units of claw-set score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal claw set. The ideal target for claw set being toes are symmetrical, evenly and appropriately spaced. Foot Angle EPD (Angle), is expressed in units of foot-angle score, with a lower EPD being more favorable indicating a sire will produce progeny with more ideal foot angle. The ideal targeting animals with a 45-degree angle at the pastern joint with appropriate length and heel depth. MATERNAL Heifer Pregnancy (HP), is a selection tool to increase the probability or chance of a sire’s daughters becoming pregnant as first-calf heifers during a normal breeding season. A higher EPD is the more favorable direction, and the EPD is reported in percentage units. Calving Ease Maternal (CEM), is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf daughters. It predicts the average ease with which a sire’s daughters will calve as first-calf heifers when compared to daughters of other sires. Maternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability. Cow Energy Value ($EN), expressed in dollars savings per cow per year, assesses differences in cow energy requirements as an expected dollar savings difference in daughters of sires. A larger value is more favorable when comparing two animals (more dollars saved on feed energy expenses). Components for computing the cow $EN savings difference include lactation energy requirements and energy costs associated with differences in mature cow size.

$8,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. This bull is a unique outcross to most of our cow herd. He comes from the Miss Emulous cow line back to B537, the most productive cow we have ever purchased. Every cow on the bottom of the three-generation pedigree is still in the herd on a 365-day interval. He brings every tool you need to produce adapted daughters to the southeast.
$6,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. This is a three-quarter brother to Lot 2 and is a direct descendant of Oak Hollow Eurotia 2542, a cow with which many of you will be familiar. We love the Limestone daughters, and his mother is not an exception. This is a nice, extremely efficient bull. Keep every daughter.

$10,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. High Tide back on Limestone has been a winning combination in recent calf crops. The dam of 2M43 is no stranger to producing top-end sale bulls. He is one of the only bulls in the breed for his combi- nation of growth, foot and udder structure, carcass value, and maternal profitability. This bull does nearly everything.
$7,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. 2M44 will be the easiest bull to spot on sale day. He is a phenotype all-star in both his performance data and on the hoof. His mother is made as well as you could ask for and has weaned 3@111 with another calf at side in the first 30 days again this year.

Yon High Tide K987 - Reference Sire Yon High Tide K987 was purchased in 2023 for his combination of southern pedigree, $100 $M and $300 $C. This alone wasn’t enough to catch our at- tention, but he also did that with an unparalleled relationship between those traits and feed intake. Simply put, the data told us his progeny would do more with less. His first calf crops have been outstanding as he has sired a retained herd sire from this calf crop. He will continue to see very heavy use. +30 25% +58 35% +.82 30% +.95 20% +.34 10% +.43 25% +3

$7,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. Lot 5 is a half-brother to Hallmark and a three-quarter brother to Lot 2 and Lot 3. His mother has as nice of udder as you can ask for, and his data speaks for itself. There are no holes. Use this bull exactly like you would Hallmark.
$6,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. 2M18 is an impressive bull on his own. He is even more impressive when you realize his mother weaned nearly 1200 lbs. of calf that day because he had a twin sister. His mother has a really nice September-born Woodall 8128 daughter at side. He is out of a great cow line and cow. Tattoo: 2M48 OAK HOLLOW 2M48 OF 4H21 K987 9 Birth Date: 09-29-2024 Bull *21052586

$5,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. This bull comes from a cow with an exceptional production record. He is a three-quarter brother to Lot 1.
$7,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. 2M28 was a tough bull to let go of. He is from the cow line I referenced on Lot 7. There really are no holes in his EPD profile, and he is strong on the hoof as well. This bull can increase profit at every marketing window. He is a really neat bull.

$5,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. This is a slick-haired and sure-footed bull from a well-known cow line in our herd.
$6,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. Lot 14 is a very similar bull to his half-brother above. He brings top-end foot EPDs to make him a foot fixer and some great carcass numbers. He pairs really well with 13 if you are breeding and retaining a group of heifers.

4 Sons Plus One 1H77 - Reference Sire A Kentucky-born bull, 4 Sons Plus One 1H77, should be familiar to anyone who has opened our catalog before. His progeny grow well, scan well on ultrasound, and are very consistent. They do all that with a moderate mature size. Originally purchased in 2021, he has seen both AI and natural service use nearly every season since. He has a large number of calves expected to hit the ground this fall and next spring as well. +.35 10% +.34 3% +9 +28 35% +55 +.94 25% +1.07 10%

$6,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. 2M50 is a full brother to Oak Hollow 2L28, a bull purchased by Futrell Farms in Cadiz, KY, last fall that will see AI use in our herd in the coming breeding season. Their mother has one of the best udders we have in the herd and she is out of the same cow as herd sire Oak Hollow 2J47.
$5,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. 2M47 is another big ribeye 1H77 son. We like the spread of numbers, the feet, and the carcass. This bull is recommended for terminal use only due to his mother’s udder and his GE-EPDs for the trait.

$5,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. We know a cow pretty well when she does 12 @104. The indexes are strong on Lot 16, given that he is out of such an old cow, and the top 2% feet help in many herds. This is a good cow maker.
$5,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. The dam of lot 19 is cut from the same cloth as lot 16. She is an old cow we know well with a perfect udder. The Effie 2205 line has had one of the most significant impacts of any in the last 20 years. The bull himself should sire slick calves, sound udders, and profitable females with a big ribeye.

$6,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. It is pretty standard for 1H77 to sire top-end $M with $300 $Combined progeny. 2M35 has strong udders, good FL, and a big ribeye. This is a nice bull. Don’t overlook him because of his half-brothers.

$6,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on cows. 2M52 is a full brother to Oak Hollow Woodwright 2352, a bull we have used more than any in the last 12 months. There is a lot to like about their mother as well as the performance of this bull. With a slightly elevated birthweight for heifers, he is a great choice to go on cows and keep replacements.

$5,500 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. Here is a nice calving ease 8128 son with a good spread on numbers and a strong $C. We would shy away from heifer retention with him. His mother’s udder leaves some room for improve- ment, and the genomic component does not like what the DNA says. He is a very solid bull otherwise.
$6,000 starting bid. Recommended for use on heifers or cows. 2M64 is a high per- former on a cow that is expected to achieve Pathfinder status in the spring. There is a ton to like about him. His dam is a half-sister to the dam of Lot 1. He pairs extremely well with Lot 20.

Woodall 8128 356 566 - Reference Sire Woodall 8128 was purchased secondhand in the spring of 2021 and has been used in much the same manner as 1H77 since then. Like his fellow herd sire, he has also seen use in nearly every season since his arrival here. His progeny are sure-footed, athletic, and grow well. His daughters breed well and stay in the herd with a very high success rate. He puts together mature size and performance metrics unrivaled by nearly every other sire in the breed. At seven years old, he is as athletic as he was when he arrived. He will continue to see heavy natural service and AI use in our herd. +.44 30% +.27 1% +11 25% +35 10% +62 25% +.96 20% +1.14 10%
