Control of Hazardous Energies Standard / V5 DRAFT REVIEW - Oct 2025

Engage in the exercises and practise selecting a voltage detector appropriate for measuring voltage at a given point in a circuit

Engage in exercises and practise performing pre-use check of the electrical measurement equipment

Work in small groups to apply the principles behind the 'Prove-Test-Prove' method to verify absence of voltage using a calibrated Voltage Detector.

ELEMENT 4.2 - 3-POINT TEST METHOD TO PROVE THE ABSENCE OF VOLTAGE

Learning objectives:

40) The participants can explain why the 3-point test method is used to prove absence of voltage (Knowledge, intermediate level)

41) The participants can apply the 3-point test method to prove the absence of voltage (Skills, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Facilitate a short activity which promotes the participants reflection (e.g. through knowledge sharing, discussions, and competitions) on why the 3-point test method is used to prove absence of voltage

Facilitate exercise(s) that enables the participants to practise proving the absence of voltage using the 3-point test method

Give constructive feedback to the participants´ application of the 3-point test method to prove the absence of voltage

The participants shall:

Engage in the activity and share understandings about why the 3-point test method is used to prove absence of voltage

Engage in the exercise(s) and practise applying the 3-point test method to prove the absence of voltage

ELEMENT 4.3 - ISOLATION OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
