TRADE ELECTRIC GROUP - CORK

IN TRUE TEG TRADITION, THE NEW BRANCH IN CORK OFFERS GREAT STOCK AVAILABILITY, AND HIGHLIGHTS THE IMPORTANCE OF DEVELOPING LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS WITH CUSTOMERS… Great stock and winning customer service

F or over 50 years, Trade Electric Group (TEG) has been supplying a full range of electrical products, from cables to second-fix electrical components (sockets, switch plates, consumer units, modern fuse boards and light fittings) to cable management, lighting and renewables. The Cork branch offers the full scope of wholesale supplies, with five thousand different products from at least 50 different suppliers and major brands. “We supply to anyone who is doing an electrical installation, be it housing, commercial, retail or farming,” explained Operations Manager Paul Gilligan. “Our customers typically work in housing and the same electricians would take on commercial jobs as well. They can find the whole spectrum of products for installations here.” According to Paul, the products in demand in Cork are pretty much the same

as in other branches, and TEG is trying to standardise the product offering across all shops. The customer comes first A diversified and well-stocked range of products is what installers like to find, but Paul also highlights the importance of developing long-term relationships with customers. “At TEG, we are not interested only in a big win in the short term, but in repeat orders,” he added. “Service is the real philosophy of this company and our big selling point. As an Irish company, we are quicker to react to customers’ requirements than a multinational and have a better stock availability.” The Operations Manager stated that the customer always comes first. “Price is important, people naturally wouldn’t pay double for the same product, but if there is a little difference between two wholesalers, price is not the winner of

the order if we can only supply half of what a team of busy installers needs for next day, for example, and they can’t complete the job,” Paul explained. “Great customer service means getting the products they need into the van and whenever they need it. And that means you get repeat orders. That is how we hope to trade. The only thing we can do is prove it now, delivery by delivery.” The Cork branch gets special orders that may require a bit more time, but the team is focusing on same-day delivery in the area. Having the support of the other TEG branches nearby also comes in handy for products that are not readily available in Cork, even if it means meeting their colleagues halfway. “Cork definitely fills the gap in our branch network. For example, our van can meet the Waterford van halfway after only one hour to get the products we need,” Paul commented.
