What are habits? A habit is a behaviour that you do over and over again, almost without thinking. Bad habits can be broken. New habits can be learned. New Year's Day is the first day of the year. It celebrates both the successes of the past year and the hopes for the coming year. The beginning of a New year is a great time to make the consious effort to create new habits. The tradition of the New Year Resolution is a great place to start. A Resolution is a promise that you make to yourself. For instance, If my new year resolution is to reduce my plastic waste, perhaps I could make a resolution to use a resuable water bottle instead of using pre-filled water bottles that are disposed of immediataly after one use. My resolution will eliminate a bad habit and put into action a good habit.

This year I will pick up trash and put it in the bin!

This year I will try new foods!

This year I will get to bed on time!

This year I will get my homework done on time!

What will your New Year Resolution be?

This year I will be prepared at school!
