DARE TO D.A.R.E.!

SPRING GREETINGS!

Spring is the time of year when things start to grow and flowers begin to bloom. Just like flowers in the springtime, we also grow and bloom. Each year we all grow a little more and become a little wiser. As we grow, it is important to think about how we are growing. For example, as we advance from one grade to another, our knowledge and experience grow. We learn that it is important to make good grades and decisions and treat people with respect. The more knowledge and experience we obtain, the more we grow. Growing up is an exciting and fun adventure. Enjoy this time in your lives and enjoy the adventure!

Manners are something we use every day to make a good impression. Etiquette is about kindness, being friendly, polite, and integrity. Do you remember the story of Goldilocks and the three bears? A girl named Goldilocks sneaks into the house of a bear family when they are away. She proceeds to eat their porridge, sit in their chairs, and sleep in their beds. When they come back, they are shocked to see that Goldilocks had eaten their food, broken their chairs, and used their beds. Goldilocks is a bad-mannered child who gets into trouble for using and breaking other’s things without asking. So what does this story teach? Have you ever wondered how people know what good manners are? It’s proper etiquette that teaches us how to behave in a particular way—not interrupting others mid-conversation, speaking politely or listening attentively. Remember, you never get a second chance for a FIRST IMPRESSION!

Hey Kids! I am Character Bear! I know first hand that growing up is sometimes hard. When you know the rules, correct etiquette and manners, you will be able to get along with others and deserve respect leading to a happier life.

You may just grow into more than you ever thought possible.
