If you could summon anything to your desk or dining room table right now, what would it be? A cup of coffee? Your favorite piece of chocolate? Tickets to see your favorite artist live? Some of you may respond with “a million dollars.” On May 20, we celebrate National Be a Millionaire Day and, while a million dollars surely is a lot, it isn’t what it used to be. Let’s take a look at some up-to-date statistics surrounding millionaires: • As 2022 drew to a close, there were 22 million millionaires in the United States. • 8.8 percent of U.S. adults are millionaires. • Massachusetts • Hawaii
• A nice painting • An incredible piece of jewelry • Really cool technology • A lavish getaway • A significant wardrobe revamp
• A New York City apartment • A private island (likely very far away) • A great sports car
However, for most people, realistically, if they attained $1 million, they would/should use it to pay off debt, create
an emergency fund, create a steady income, start a business, buy real estate, invest in the stock market, give it away, or save for retirement. Being a biased party, I always say it’s best to save it for retirement because, using the 4% rule, $1 million will only provide about $40,000 of income. When you combine that with the potential for a pension and Social Security, you may have enough to live off of in retirement in our area.

The top 10% wealthiest have at least $1.22 million.

P.S. Don’t forget that Mother’s Day is May 14. Remember that without our mothers, we would not be who we are today — literally and figuratively! Mothers do so much for us, for our families, and for the world. I’m especially grateful for my mother for instilling in me that anything is possible. Thanks, Mom! Enjoy your summer, everyone!

With These Summer Patio Trends HAVE YOUR GUESTS BEGGING TO COME OVER
Trend No. 2: Conversation-Centric Seating We sometimes assume that our guests want to move around when we host in outdoor spaces. But oftentimes, people actually enjoy staying in one place and getting to visit in a single area, like a patio that is
As we approach the summer months, Americans will spend more time in their outdoor spaces than at any other time of the year. From barbecues to pool parties, your patio will likely host many guests in the coming months — and there’s nothing worse than having an unprepared space that leaves your guests feeling uncomfortable. So, before your guests ever arrive this summer, refresh your patio by using these four trends. Trend No. 1: An Unexpected Touch of Wicker Wicker is common for outdoor spaces and a great way to make them feel casual yet comfortable. However, a complete wicker ensemble can sometimes feel overwhelming. You can still achieve this relaxed atmosphere by adding wicker in unexpected places, like a bar cart or small side table. This will help maintain a cozy atmosphere without making the entire patio look uniform or bland.
Trend No. 4: Bold Leaf Prints Many outdoor spaces feature concrete or brick flooring. While these materials can look appealing for a while, they eventually become damaged, faded, or dull. So, spice up your outside space with rugs, seat cushions, or pillows with leaf prints that can make your space feel natural yet exciting. These large- scale patterns and green prints can make your outdoor space fun and cozy. These outdoor design trends are easy ways to make your patio space come alive and ensure your guests will be talking about more than just the warm weather.

Serveware While you may have a table or two on your patio, this surface area is limited — and serving trays or dishware can take up space fast. So, use clever serveware made to save space. These dishes are either tiered or boast deep basins to hold more food without taking up too much room.
IS A SECOND HOME IN THE CARDS?
Let’s Weigh the Pros and Cons
As summer nears and we all spend more time outdoors, second homes are on many people’s minds. They’re a great place for families to get together and can potentially be a great investment or rental property. When considering whether or not a second home is right for you, it’s important to take your long-term goals into consideration and weigh the pros and cons. Remember that a home, even a second home, is one of the largest purchases you’ll make in your lifetime. Advantages of a Second Home Second homes are great investments as they can appreciate in value, help to diversify your assets, provide you the opportunity to travel to other destinations, and open the door to rental properties. Healthy fats play an essential role in our brain function and development. Your brain is roughly 60% fat, and it’s important to note that your brain cells rely on a steady supply of good fats to operate correctly. 4. They provide energy. Healthy fats combat fatigue and provide your body with energy. When we consume omega-3s, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fats, our body absorbs them and converts each calorie into energy for our cells to function. So, remember when you’re planning your meals for the week: Good fats keep you healthy!
Why are healthy fats vital as we age? 1. They aren’t fattening fats.
When you think of fats, your mind likely immediately turns to weight gain. However, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, when consumed in proper amounts, help with fat loss and maintaining a healthy weight. To trim down, eliminate unhealthy saturated and trans fats from your diet instead. Trans fats are those that are partially hydrogenated and are common in processed foods. 2. They reduce inflammation. Omega-3s, a polyunsaturated fat, have anti- inflammatory properties that can help your body heal faster. No matter how much exercise you do, combating inflammation with your diet is beneficial. made Ludwig sound more dangerous than he is, so Maughan spoke to the Toronto Star to dispute any defamations against Ludwig’s kindness. A Ham-Fisted Attempt at Robbery Intruders Flee From Ludwig the Pig
On the night of New Year’s Eve in 2014, a group of burglars experienced the fright of a lifetime. Expecting to rob a quiet home in Derby, England, the intruders instead came face to snout with Ludwig, a 240-pound potbellied pig. Abandoning all thoughts of crime once they spotted the pig, the burglars instantly fled the scene and ran for their lives. The “hero ham” had already become a popular figure in his town and was well-loved for his gentle demeanor. In fact, Michael Maughan,
“He’s being painted as a vicious creature when he’s actually quite a sweet animal,” he explained. “He didn’t exactly bare his tusks and charge, I don’t think. I think he got absolutely,
‘Arrgh,’ and they just ran for it.” In fact, Maughan detailed that after a two-month separation during their move to England, the pig shed tears during their reunion. Adorable and affectionate, Ludwig would have probably become friends with the intruders in no time. Even if his “bark” is worse than his bite, Ludwig succeeded in keeping his owners safe while also protecting their home. This 240-pound potbellied pig continues to enjoy his comfortable home in Derby and is considered a town hero. Anyone looking for a guard dog may want to consider a hefty hog instead!
Ludwig’s owner, is confident that Ludwig wouldn’t have harmed the intruders, even if he does look quite intimidating. Local officers believe the robbers must have heard Ludwig’s Rottweiler-like “growl” and immediately hit the road, leaving the door wide open behind them. The story of this heroic potbellied pig became a sensation throughout Europe. Countless fans have applauded the Canadian-born hog for his loyalty to his owners. But the owners want to ensure people understand that Ludwig would never hurt anyone. Some fabricated web stories
