Never use your home equity for investments or insurance premiums. Use the tax advantages of your equity to pay off credit cards and other debt with higher interest rates. 10. How about making a few minor lifestyle changes? I tell my grandchildren that "I will do those things today that others won't do, so I can do those things tomorrow that others can't do."
