10) Normal Operations
Return to normal operation. Inspect hood pick up point system to determine a corrective action to
minimize the opportunity for an ignition source reaching the filters.
Review the if-then table at the beginning of the FSS Section above.
F IRE S UPPRESSION T ESTING P ROCESS :
1) Since January 2020, Clean Air Industries switches to ABC dry chemical or FM200 fire bottle. This can visually be identified with the red fire bottle installed outside of the unit. The fire bottle can be deactivated by turning the handle to OFF position to ensure the bottle doesn’t discharge during testing. To deactivate electrically, disconnect wire number 36 from the solenoid on the fire bottle
2) Turn the key switch to the ‘Off’ Position.
3) Press the start button to start the unit. 4) Pull the fire pull. Nothing should happen. This verifies that the key switch is working. 5) Turn the key switch to the ‘On’ Position. The behavior should follow the process noted in Table 1. This verifies the fire pull is working. Make sure the power is applied to the terminals to activate the suppression agent generator.
6) Turn power off at the Disconnect. 7) Reset the fire pull. 8) Turn power back on at the Disconnect.
9) Use a heat gun to activate the primary heat detectors located in the valve compartment. The behavior should follow the process noted in Table 1. This verifies the heat detector is working. Make sure the power is applied to the terminals to activate the suppression agent generator. Check terminal block #36 with voltmeter. 20s after triggering the heat detector, there should be 24V on the terminal block#36
10) Turn power off at the Disconnect. 11) It may take a few minutes for the heat detector to cool down. 12) Turn power back on at the Disconnect.
13) Use a heat gun to activate the secondary heat detectors located in the filter compartment. The behavior should follow the process noted in Table 1. This verifies the heat detector is working. Make sure the power is applied to the terminals to activate the suppression agent generator.
14) Turn power off at the Disconnect.
