Dear Runners, Welcome to the 2024 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run! This year, we celebrate a return to tradition. The nation’s largest 10-mile road race is once again being held on the traditional first Sunday in May, and the finish line is back in the Navy Yard. Philadelphia is ready to welcome 40,000 runners to Broad Street, our city’s historic artery that connects North and South Philly through vibrant, diverse neighborhoods and famous landmarks that are the perfect backdrop for this iconic race. There’s something about the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run that just makes us want to celebrate. Cheer zones with live music will entertain and keep up the energy. All along
the course, spectators display their funny signs, wear their costumes, and give encouraging shouts to get you to the finish line. Your loved ones will be waiting for you there. The Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run brings out the best of Philadelphia: determination, community spirit, and a love for our most cherished traditions. In addition to runners, volunteers, and spectators, so many people make this race possible. The committed staff of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation works for months to plan this race in partnership with Independence Blue Cross. For almost 30 years, we have depended on IBX’s support to make the Broad Street Run fun, healthy, and beneficial for everyone.
