As the traffic congestion has become an overwhelming problem, what can be done if caught up in a congestion situation preventing drivers from being trapped in danger? Street lighting on Culver drive between Michelson and University is not operating and has not operated for months, since highway and tree trimming work was completed.

Peters Canyon Trail runs along a storm channel that is supposed to withstand 100 year floods, but I recall a report that claimed the entire channel didn't meet that qualification. Unsure if it has been remediated. The constant state of construction of really smart apartment complexes makes the daily move around central Irvine challenging. One day, all but one lane on the left side of street are being closed off, another all but one lane on the right side of the street are being closed off. Dizzying. Gas lines in our mobilehome park are maintained by a private utility. A fire caused by a gas line break would be the most likely cause for disaster in our park. The utility does regular (annual?) inspections but residents receive no information about the results. Erosion of the banks of Hicks Canyon Wash. Ground squirrel burrowing in the banks is going to hasten the process.
