water and canned food or even Twinkies if that will feed them for 3 days! Lots of preservatives there!!! The people most vulnerable are the ones who laugh off preparation efforts, perhaps due to indifference or laziness. Make basic preparation simple, even if it requires selling items at wholesale to citizens or providing rebates. Collaborating with Irvine Company so they are also involved on getting their residents ready for a disaster. The neighborhood leaders could be the liaison between CERT and the Irvine Company neighbors.

PET CARE: 1. Make sure our PETS (cats, dogs) have proper shelter, food, water and safe care in the event of a disaster or emergency. 2. This means I will stay in my home *if* I cannot find proper shelter, food, water and safe care for my PET. I didn't know that CERT or any programs to provide training and awareness in emergency situations existed until I joined NextDoor app. It would be nice to see more postings in public areas of the city informing people. Only recently I saw a few banners posted on corners of intersections, but more flyers in shopping malls, etc could potentially help. Also, maybe some programs to help residents/business owners to understand potential hazards and damage mitigation without needing to go through a full CERT program.
