Bessie May Allen Scholarship ALLIE GRIPENTROG
About the Award This scholarship was established by Bessie May Allen, director of the Home Economics Department at UWSP for 39 years. Bessie May Allen shaped the home economics program at UWSP. She was vital in keeping the program alive, bringing it back to campus after the Board of Regents had voted to eliminate it. Allie is a family and consumer sciences major with an emphasis in child life and family studies. She is minoring in sociology and will earn a certificate in family adversity and adaptation. Allie attended the annual National Council on Family Relations national conference last year and is a member of the University Council on Family Relations.
