The GCA YouthADAPT Challenge 2022, a collaborative initiative by the Global Centre on Adaptation (GCA), African Development Bank (AfDB), and Climate Investment Funds (CIF), was designed to support these visionaries. Through funding, mentorship, and capacity-building, this program implemented by AfriLabs has empowered young climate innovators to scale their enterprises, drive sustainable growth, and address pressing environmental challenges across the continent. Africa faces some of the most severe climate-related challenges, from droughts to floods and erratic weather patterns that threaten food security, water availability, and livelihoods. Despite these challenges, the continent is also home to a new generation of young innovators determined to create solutions. The GCA YouthADAPT Challenge sought to identify and support these entrepreneurs, ensuring they had the necessary tools, funding, and networks to make a lasting impact.
