AfriLabs and NASENI: Establishing an Innovation Hub to Empower Nigerian Innovators
AfriLabs partnered with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to establish a state- of-the-art Innovation Hub aimed at providing hands- on support programs and infrastructure for Nigerian innovators and startups. This collaboration is designed to foster a thriving innovation ecosystem, particularly in the science, engineering, and manufacturing sectors, by equipping entrepreneurs with the necessary tools, knowledge, and opportunities to develop market-ready solutions.
The NASENI Innovation Hub is built around four core objectives that will drive its long-term success and impact:
1. Ecosystem Mapping and Needs Assessment Report To ensure that the hub’s programs align with the actual needs of the Nigerian innovation ecosystem, AfriLabs conducted an Ecosystem Mapping and Needs Assessment. This foundational report provides data-driven insights to guide the development of high-impact programs tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s innovation landscape. 2. Capacity Building for NASENI Innovation Hub Staff Five staff members from the NASENI Innovation Hub have been trained and equipped with the skills needed for effective program design and hub management. By establishing a high-quality system for innovation hub operations, this initiative ensures that the hub can sustainably support innovators and startups. 3. Startup Support for Early and Growth-Stage Ventures The hub is set to provide targeted mentorship, networking, and infrastructure support to early and growth-stage startups in the science, engineering, and manufacturing sectors. Through strategic partnerships and investor engagement, these startups will gain the necessary resources to scale their innovation.
