By the end of the year, 519 hubs across 220+ cities in 53 African countries were part of the AfriLabs community, reflecting the organization’s commitment to inclusive ecosystem growth. Member-Led Initiatives and Collaborations AfriLabs member hubs took an active role in driving regional initiatives that fostered knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and local ecosystem development. Some key highlights included: AfriLabs City Meetups In 2024, three city meetups were successfully hosted in Tunisia, Malawi, and Gabon, led by member hubs The DOT, Emerge Livelihoods, and Akewa Accelerator in partnership with Collective Lab, mHub, and Société d’Incubation Numérique du Gabon. These gatherings featured panel discussions, research presentations on AI and finance, and robust networking sessions, bringing together 173 participants to exchange insights and form strategic partnerships. AfriLabs x Ukamili Capacity-Building Workshop A major initiative in Central Africa, this hybrid workshop—led by Centre d’innovation de Lubumbashi (C’inolu)—engaged participants from DR Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Burundi, and Gabon. The program focused on hub management best practices, knowledge exchange, and ecosystem collaboration. It culminated in a three-day event in Lubumbashi, facilitating deep engagement and relationship- building among Central African innovation leaders. Voices from the Community: Member Testimonials
AfriLabs has been instrumental in enhancing our capacity to manage and grow our innovation hub, Mzuzu E-Hub, now rebranded as Emerge Livelihoods. Through their training programs and insightful webinars, we’ve gained invaluable skills that have supported startups within our network. Personally, being part of the AfriLabs Ambassador initiative has expanded my leadership journey and opened doors to serve as an innovation consultant, pitch competition jury member, and business coach.
