Makerspaces Track: This track celebrated Africa’s makerspaces as engines of hardware innovation and local manufacturing. Key discussions included the role of makerspaces in job creation and industrialization scaling hardware startups for global markets, building resilient, sustainable business models for makerspaces and the transformative power of distributed manufacturing across Africa.
As part of the AAG, A high-level Ministerial Roundtable, chaired by Hon. Jane Sithole, explored how policymakers can foster innovation, mobilize resources, and drive digital public infrastructure (DPI). Discussions focused on cross-border policy harmonization to accelerate Africa’s digital economy, strengthening DPI as a foundation for financial inclusion and innovation and public-private partnerships for scaling tech-driven economic development.
