FTA Reveals Annual Award Winners
The Skinny Pop Popcorn Holiday Variety Snack Pack , printed by International Paper Co. (pre- printed linerboard category). The Vincent & Valerie Skincare Free Sample En- velope , printed by Heritage Envelopes Ltd. (enve- lope category). Technical Innovation Award FTA also announced two recipients of a 2022 FTA Technical Innovation Award, which recognizes trail- blazers making an impact on the package printing and converting industry. The companies receiving a 2022 Technical Inno- vation Award, and their technologies, are: • DuPont Cyrel Solutions, for its Cyrel Lightning Plates, flexographic plates designed to increase ef- ficiency on high-end and high-cost LED exposure units while matching or exceeding the quality of longer exposure times (Prepress Graphics Catego- ry), and, • SOMA spol sro, for its SOMA Changeover Wiz- ard, a flexographic press user interface that guides the press operator throughout a job to optimize the process and minimize operator error (Heavy Metal Category).
FTA revealed the recipients of the 2022 FTA Excel- lence in Flexography Awards Sunday night, March 13, during the Awards Banquet at FORUM 2022, FTA’s annual four-day technical conference. Hundreds of print samples were reviewed by the competition’s judges, together representing differ- ent segments of the flexographic industry. Each en- try was evaluated using more than a dozen scoring criteria to determine degree of difficulty, level of execution and overall quality. Best In Show Six prints were chosen as Best of Show in their respective categories: The Thierry’s Patissiere Raspberry Tart & Mille Feuille Wrap , printed by Sunshine FPC Inc. (wide web category). The Dr Teal’s Melatonin Epsom Salt Value Pack , printed by Accredo Packaging (mid web category). The Jergens Body Butter Sandalwood Tube , print- ed by Berry Global (narrow web category). The Bohemia Sekt Demi Sec Sparkling Wine Label Box , entered by PANFLEX sro on behalf of Mondi Bupak sro (combined corrugated category).
