TLMI Reopens Scholarship Program
TLMI has reopened its Scholarship Program for this academic year. The program reopens following a year-long hiatus due to the unique events of the past year. The association is refocusing its commit- ment to the program and to being a primary force in
the industry, helping to enable students to pursue a fulfilling career in the printed packaging space. Over the past half decade, Workforce Develop- ment has been one of the central pillars of TLMI’s Strategic Plan, and the association’s Board of Direc- tors renewed its commitment to prioritizing work- force last year at the association’s board meeting in Austin, Texas. The association remains committed to utilizing its resources to positively impact the current challenges its members are facing in attain- ing, and retaining, qualified employees. Scholarship recipients are students enrolled in both two and four-year certified degree programs. In 2019, TLMI expanded its scholarship reach to also include stu- dents in two-year technical programs. FTA Reveals Sustainability Excellence Award Winners FTA revealed the results of the 2022 FTA Sustainabil- ity Excellence Award competition. Two winners and two honorable mentions were chosen out of a record number of entries in the program’s 22-year history. The two companies recognized as winners are: • Industrias de Plasticos SA de CV (INPLASA), of Valle de Amarateca, Francisco Morazán, Honduras, Central America, recognized in the Sustainability Programs category for its five-part project focused on clean energy and sustainable waste manage- ment, and • Footprint LLC, of Gilbert, Arizona, recognized in the Innovations in Sustainability category for its technology in manufacturing plant-based fiber for container packaging.
