registration number, how long the site visit is going to take.

“They can generate a pre-site visit report, so the hose data will be on this site visit; they can pull their pre-site visit report and check what hoses we’re going to be inspecting on the day. “The engineer goes up, does his inspections, changes the dates; we update the database and afterwards, the pre-site visit report is generated automatically as a pdf. Then they can save the pdfs for each site visit if they want. They have continuous access to the system regardless. “It gives all the information on which hoses are going to be inspected or changed out. Once it’s updated, you get the post-site visit report, which gives you the information about what was changed, what was inspected, etc.” Pirtek Limerick has been developing the system for some time. “We’ve been using our bespoke database for two or three years now, says Amanda. “Initially, we just had an Access database. They took it and put a front face on it to make it look a little more professional. After that, we graduated to this and the data was transferred across. “We can edit whatever we want now. Because it’s cloud based, I can just click to add a new hose. I select the criteria – tag colour, hose type, whatever. It’s very simple, certainly much easier than going through an Access database. “I won’t knock it because I used to love Access. This is just the next step up,” Amanda concludes. “We started with an Excel sheet, not even an actual database. We went from Excel to a basic Access database, to one with a bespoke front end and now to our own cloud-based system.”
