Significant experience of management at a senior level in a complex and commercially-driven organisation, and preferably within a business environment that is within the HAS portfolio (e.g. catering, sport and leisure, hospitality, accommodation etc.).

Knowledge and understanding of, and/or experience within, a Higher Education environment would be advantageous but not essential.

Significant proven ability and experience in management with expertise, supported by a professional qualification, in at least one but ideally two of the following specialisms: HR (Generalist), Recruitment, Learning and Development, Health & Safety, IT.

Experience of working at a senior level, operating strategically across the business or within a multi-disciplinary role/environment.

Knowledge of and significant expertise in: • defining and developing strategy and translating it into achievable and measurable operational outcomes. • leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team and ensuring key targets are met within resource constraints. • managing multiple, complex projects. • initiating, implementing and managing change. • working with and influencing senior management. • financial planning, managing/controlling significant budgets and resources. • designing, developing and implementing complex proposals integrating strategic and financial issues.

• developing and delivering solutions to complex problems. • operational planning, management and business process skills. • applying a significant amount of independent professional judgement.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills including: • the ability to interact with all levels of staff. • the ability to establish and develop strong, trusting and collaborative working relationships. • strong, proven people management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire and develop teams and individuals. • excellent influencing, negotiating and facilitating skills.

Able to analyse the internal/ external environment in order to develop appropriate solutions.
