A Journey into the Land of Mysteries

On April 17, 2017, the last day of our coverage in North Korea, we were received by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. The reception was warm, and through me he sent an official visit invite to Al Jazeera’s management. We started the interview and as the intensity of questions grew, we were interrupted by Mr Pak. I was disappointed as we were only halfway through, but we managed to get some good pieces of information. It was a scoop. In a country like North Korea, any correspondent could easily feel the cruelty of the profession. One wrong move and you are done. A journalist should be equipped with a sharp sense and quick response, knowing what to do and say at the right time and in the right place. The following day, we returned to Beijing, feeling proud of what Al Jazeera had achieved.
