Wuhan: An Indelible Mark
When we were commissioned to go to Wuhan, I had little time to prepare. I hurried to buy protective suits, gloves and masks. Canned food and instant noodles were the first thing to go into my luggage. The Chinese authorities allowed us into the city, but we were not certain when we would be permitted to leave.
As Al Jazeera was the first media to arrive in the virus-ravaged city, the Wuhan coverage left an indelible mark in my soul. It was a deep human experience. Despite all the horrifying scenes, we maintained our professionalism, telling the story as it happened. The human stories I have heard in Wuhan will remain carved in my memory for as long as I live.
