Al Jazeera in Mandarin
The launch of Al Jazeera’s website in the Mandarin language was not meant for financial profits or mere competition with local or international media; it was yet another step to support Al Jazeera’s mission, namely to tell the truth with total professionalism and with absolute objectivity. There had been an absence of Arabic content in China’s news media and the Al Jazeera website filled that void. It is the Chinese people’s window to the Arab world and their direct source of information and news from the Middle East. Al Jazeera’s Mandarin site provides documentaries, interactive videos and a podcast service with everything from news stories to in-depth analyses of Middle East affairs. The site will continue to play an instrumental role in cementing bonds between the Arabs and the Chinese.
