Al Jazeera Documentary Meets LOOKSfilm
What the LOOKSfilm team really appreciates about working with AJD are the open, in-depth discussions and the sense of a true partnership aimed at getting the best result for each film. This includes moments were one of the partners has to have the courage to leave its comfort zone in order to reach the greater goal of producing a truly multi-perspective documentary. This openness to the deeper idea of international coproduction, as well as the fact that AJD supports and shares all the international industry standards - technical, contractual and procedural - means it’s easy to build up mutual trust between all international partners involved.
When I saw the great and important archive AJD gave us access to for ‘Afghanistan – the Wounded Land’ – part of it shot by the Al Jazeera office in Kabul - the dream of a possible next bridge- building project with AJD was born: an international accessible film archive based on the treasures created by AJD over the last 15 years in order to enable more history storytelling for the world from an Arab perspective.
