Darfur Violence: ‘No Escape’
The journey allowed us to show the world the magnitude of the devastation the conflict has caused and to bring to the surface the suffering of the people there. We met people who were left for days without food; others who walked for dozens of kilometres to get some water. Many of those we tried to speak to ran out of panic.
Despite all the dangers we faced, I consider this journey to have been a breakthrough in my career as a journalist. It will remain carved in my memory.
