FTA Opens Application Period for President Position The Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) has opened the application period for the po- sition of President of FTA and its educational foundation, the Foundation of FTA (FFTA). Application Details: Interested candidates are invited to apply through the following link.
The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) 2024 Student Flexible Pack- aging Design Challenge winners have been announced. This year’s first winner was a team of students from the University of Wisconsin– Stout, and the second-place winner was a team of students from the California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly).
Applications will be accepted until August 19, 2024, and applicants are required to submit the following materials by this deadline: • Current Resume • Cover Letter • Three references from the package print- ing industry or related association references Leadership Role : The President will lead a team of staff members and work closely with the FTA Board of Directors and FFTA Board of Trustees, various committees, and the Associ- ation’s membership to advance the goals and initiatives of the FTA. Selection Process : The selection process will be overseen by a Search Committee and facilitated by The Workplace Advisors Inc., a national HR, recruiting, and compliance firm. FPA’s annual Achievement Awards competition recognizes innova- tive flexible packaging from across its membership. The FPA believes it is important to encourage and recognize students who are working to become the next generation of packaging engineers and designers. The first-place winner was a team of students from the University of Wisconsin–Stout, Starr Gong and Logan Searles, for their Pringles Side Opening Pouch concept. The students were under the direction of As- sistant Professor, Xiaojing “Kate” Liu. The concept called for a total re- design of the traditional Pringles package for a stand-up pouch with a flip stand feature. The re-sealable pouch and nitrogen-filled cushioning help to protect the chips from being crushed and retain product fresh- ness. A wide-open side design provides consumer convenience for accessing the chips. This concept also won an award for “Best Video” which will be promoted through FPA’s social media channels. Sizzle Sleeves, a packaging concept for pre-cooked single-serve bacon slices, was the second-place winner. Garrett Foster, Haaken
