Marian Settles ’42, Republic of Congo: “ Because of various reasons it was very apparent that a white director of the local school was a thing of the past, so I have resigned my post. The field council has assigned me to teach in the Moniteurs school, the post I had before taking the direction of the primary schools. I will remain at Aungba. I shall also be a ‘tech nician’ to assist the new Congolese direc tor of the schools.” Lois Roth ’45, Tangier, Morocco: “ Trans- World Radio would like to have me help out on the musical end of preparing pro grams in the recording studio which has remained here in Tangier. I would love to, but will not be able to spend much time there, teaching four grades, private piano lessons, working in and supervising the library, plus the hundred and one things one has to do in a boarding school. But the Lord has given me the work I love most, and my heart is singing . . . Last fall a new teacher, Mr. Richard Cline- smith, came to join our teaching staff. He was no stranger to us, however, for he had taught school the preceding year at the U.S.N. base at Kenitra, near Rabat. On weekends he often came up with other Christian men from the base to visit our little missionary community here in Tan gier. Richard’s consistent Christian testi mony won my admiration last year . . . Feburary 25, 1961, we were married.” Philip and Alice (Kline ’50) Ocampo, La Habra, California: “ As Phil studies further in the Instituto Evangelico, we continue our ministry in the Los Angeles area wherever the Lord calls: a difficult funeral, a session in court for an accused young men, teaching and preaching in La Mission in La Habra, often supplying other pulpits here and there, bringing a series of doctrinal messages for a young adult group during the week, and always helping to fill the great need for music almost everywhere we go.” Roy ’54 and Georgialee Mayfield, Philip pines: “ Dick Elkins, one of our transla tion checkers, (Wycliffe), was visiting with us here in Basoa, and he was able to point out many problems to us of which we had not previously been aware. Ife helped us to improve our translation consider ably.” Jesse ’49 and Nettie Miller, Denver, Colorado: “God has given us two more couples to send out, another couple to re turn to the field after furloughing a year, and at least one couple to return to the States after almost five years in the Philip pines. Last year the Lord made provision to send out two new couples for the min istry among the servicemen.”

Oliver ’51 and Carol (Willman ’51) Siemens, Honolulu, Hawaii: “ Preparations have been made to move into the six bed room home. Having secured a two-year rental lease, we are looking forward to an expanded ministry in reaching service men with the good news of salvation through our wonderful Saviour. This two- story home is located in a lovely residential area less than two miles from the Service Center. Dale ’57 and Ruth Sherman, Snohomish, Washington: “ The Lord has enabled the church to pay the mortgage that has been held on the building for 60 years.” Berlyn and Edith (Menzer T4) Stokely, Oraibi, Arizona: “ The message is going forth from the 82 school children and from the 30 Bible school students. On Sun days it goes forth from the Pinon out- station; and from Flagstaff, to hogans all over the reservation from the Mission’s all-Navajo Gospel broadcast. Navajo peo ple attending the morning services in the Mission chapel hear the message and after their noon meal in the Community House sing the message, pray to their Father, and study the Word of God; then to their homes they go to sing and tell their own people about HIM.” have you remembered the A L U M N I BU ILD ING PROJECT? William ’39 and Barbara Lewis, Beatty- ville, Kentucky: “We still spend 2 weeks of each month visiting schools in 14 coun ties and conducting the Lee County YFC Rally once a month. Barbara gives 2 addi tional days to grade school chapels and then sandwiches in piano lessons during odd moments and on Saturdays. The rest of my hours are taken up in trying to develop high school YFC clubs and quiz teams. We have found that each school needs more attention than we have been able to give, so we are trying to find local people to help us.” Betty Kroeker ’44, Hamburg, Germany: “ Right now things are a little quiet for me, but yet there are the daily routine and regular weekly classes. Now and then there is an added opportunity for helping in a Sunday school or some chil dren’s meeting during the week. The Lord willing, I will be coming home on fur lough sometime this year. Present plans are to come sometime in September or October. The Teacher Training class here has not been succesful.”
