In this edition of View From The Valley, I want to highlight a quote from the legendary James Earl Jones: “You don’t build a bond without being present.” Known for his iconic voice and unmatched talent, Jones was a beloved actor who voiced some of the most memorable characters in film, including Darth Vader and Mufasa. Though he recently passed away, his legacy of wisdom and strength lives on. His words remind us of the importance of being fully present in our daily lives. Whether it's nurturing relationships with friends and family or paying attention to our own mental health, being truly present helps build strong connections. As we navigate a new semester, let’s honor his legacy by taking the time to connect with each other—and ourselves—on a deeper level. Qun

LIGHT IN THE COMMUNITY
In the August edition of View From the Valley, a crosswalk project was mentioned and has been a great asset to the Small World Child Development Center and the WVC campus. This project was done with safety in mind, helping the children and staff at Small World cross the street more easily and safely. Since that time, donor Mike McPherson and Mayor Joe Judge were able to visit the Center and grace the children and staff with a photo to commemorate the contribution. Mayor Joe Judge thanked McPherson and his family, saying, " Mike and his family have contributed to many projects throughout the community here in Wabash County and we're very
appreciative of him and his family's contribution not only to this project but to the overall environment making Mt Carmel better. Its families like his that come together to make Mt Carmel a better place for everybody." Carla Cadwalader, Director of Small World, also shared her appreciation: " I appreciate the vision and [McPherson's] dedication and acknowledgement for the future generations." This new crosswalk is more than just a safety improvement; it shows how one person's actions can make a big difference in the community, helping to make Mount Carmel a safer and better place for everyone.
