GOLF
If you have NOT been receiving e-mail information regarding ANCC Junior Golf, please forward your e-mail address to Jimmy Kowalski, PGA to be sure to receive junior golf information throughout the year. Jimmy’s e-mail address is jimmy.kowalski@ancc.org. The 2023 ANCC Senior Club Championship is the tournament that matches your golf skills one-on-one with each of your fellow competitors. This will include both a Men’s and Women’s Division for the championship ONLY as well as NEW Super-Senior Divisions. All matches are played from at scratch – no handicaps (Senior Flighted Match Play Tournament will begin in July). For complete tournament information and to enter beginning 9 May, click here. ANCC Senior Club Championship All golfers at ANCC are expected to dress in a manner that reflects the decorum and good taste of current or traditional golf attire when using any of the golf facilities. Clothing items such as denim jeans or denim skirts (any color), frayed or cut-off shorts, athletic or tennis shorts or skirts, spandex biking shorts, gym shorts, sweat suits, warm-up suits, tennis dresses, tee shirts, halter tops and tank tops are NOT considered appropriate golf attire. For men, tucked in collared or mock turtlenecks shirts are appropriate. For a complete set of the club rules, please click here. Golf Attire & Dress Code Reminder Attention Junior Golfers
As the 2023 golf season gets underway, the Handicap Committee reminds all players that to maintain the integrity of our handicap system, they should post every round played, except when playing alone. Scores should be posted for any format, even when you pick- up without holing out or when you skip holes. This includes playing less than a full 9 or 18 holes. If a player does not hole out, they should assign themselves the score for that hole that they would have most likely have achieved, or, if they skip a hole, their net double bogey score for that hole. Guidelines that detail how to post rounds are posted in the golf section of the website. We also remind players that the Handicap Committee monitors the handicap system and has imposed handicap penalties when players fail to post regular play and/or competition scores. Also, if you haven’t already done so, all players are required by the USGA to create a digital profile. If you have not posted a score since 2000 you will be prompted to set-up your digital profile on your first login to your GHIN number. If you have any trouble with the set-up, please contact Cody Pestune, Direc- tor of Administration & Play at cody.pestun@ancc.org. For additional handicap information, requirements for maintaining a handicap at ANCC and the handicap request form, click here. Handicap Posting Information & More

Golf Course Reminders
As this golf season gets started our professional golf staff would like to give you a few friendly reminders we can all do to take care of our golf courses: 1) The no mow areas on the golf courses are by design. Some are marked as penalty areas and should be played as penalty areas according to the Rules of Golf. If a no mow area is not marked as a penalty area, then any ball that enters an unmarked no mow area and is not found is a Lost Ball. While playing your round, if you stroke a ball into the no mow areas, please play a Provisional Ball to help with the pace of play. 2) Though the grass in the no mow areas is shorter during the spring, it is not intended for golf cart traffic. You may enter no mow areas in search of a ball, but please DO NOT drive golf carts into these areas. 3) Please observe the golf cart rules for the day. Every effort will be made to maintain the 90º cart rule as often as possible. However, when carts are restricted to paths, please keep all wheels on the paths. 4) At ARL, when taking a divot please fill the scar with sand. There is no need to replace the divot as it will die. The Bermuda grass will fill-in within a few days. 5) At FFX, if the divot is intact with soil attached, please replace it. If the divot has shattered, please fill the scar with sand. 6) Please be sure to repair your ball marks on the green and a couple others at the same time. A properly repaired ball mark will keep our greens looking spectacular all season.
When you register your handicap with ANCC there are many Virginia State Golf Association benefits you receive for your annual fee. Two major VSGA benefits of membership are subscriptions to Virginia Golfer and Golf Digest magazines, and the VSGA would love for you to receive these.
