Letter from Fr. Aaron Smith, LC:
Vision for Regnum Christi in the United States of America and Canada
The Regnum Christi Territorial Plenary Council Meeting was held at Amicalola Falls from August 18 to 20, 2024. The meeting with 30 participants from all RC vocations and many of the localities in the territory was an opportunity to review the progress and achievements of the last five years, to reflect on the insights and outcomes of the Territorial and General Conventions, and to present and discuss the proposed 2025-2030 Territorial Strategy. These days together were marked by a spirit of missionary zeal, gratitude for the many blessings from the Lord during the past years, fraternity, as well as a desire to authentically live the Regnum Christi identity and mission. One of the main outcomes of the Plenary Council Meeting was the formulation of a Territorial Vision that expresses our aspiration for the next six years: Extending the evangelizing impact and reach of Regnum Christi. This vision reflects our commitment to be catalysts of hope, going out to collaborate with the Church in the evangelization of people and society in more places across the territory (CGC 21a). It also implies a clear understanding of the contribution of each locality to the mission, a strategic allocation of personnel, an effective formation of apostles and formators, fruitful networking among our apostolic initiatives, and special attention to the needs of marriage and family. To achieve this vision, our strategy is to grow communities of apostles who are actively engaged in evangelizing. We do this by empowering, launching, and accompanying more lay Regnum Christi and ECYD members and facilitating collaboration across apostolic initiatives, particularly those that support marriage and the family. This strategy is based on the conviction that the lay Regnum Christi members, together with the other members of Regnum Christi —Legionaries and Consecrated Men and Women, are called to be primary agents of evangelization, and that Regnum Christi offers a specific charism and spirituality to fulfill this vocation. It also recognizes the importance of fostering a culture of communion and co-responsibility among all the members of Regnum Christi, as well as the need to respond to the signs of the times and the challenges of the New Evangelization. Over the next couple of months, this basic plan will be discussed with leadership across the territory to receive feedback before final approval in November. Please do keep this process in your prayers as well as send any comments or suggestions that you might have!!
May the Lord continue to bless you, your families and communities!
