Greetings trustees! I am Letitia Wall, your Board Professional here at the university. My role is to assist with any questions or needs you may have during your tenure. The following information will aid you in navigating your board materials. Please don’t hesitate to reach out should you have any questions. INTRODUCTION: The Board of Trustees serves as advisor to the Board of Governors on matters pertaining to WSSU and serves as advisor to the Chancellor concerning the management and development of the institution. It is comprised of thirteen members with eight members elected by the UNC Board of Governors and four appointed by the General Assembly. The President of the Student Government Association serves an ex officio member. BOARD MEETINGS: Currently, full board meetings are held quarterly during March, June, September December, unless advance notice is given. The Board shall hold not fewer than three (3) regular meetings a year and may hold such additional meetings as may be deemed desirable. Meetings may be held in person, by con- ference telephone, or by electronic means that allow for real-time voice communication. All meetings of the Board shall be open to the public unless, consistent with the requirements of State law, a meeting is closed to the public by a motion duly made and adopted by the Board in an open meeting. Committee meetings will be held virtually the week of the full board meeting; and the full Board meeting will occur on the Friday proceeding committee meeting. Meetings are scheduled from 9am until about 12pm, unless otherwise shared. MEETING LOCATION: Full Board meetings are held in 100 Campus Hall in the Donald Julian Reaves Student Activities Center, unless otherwise stated. A light continental breakfast that includes coffee and juice is available for the duration of each full board meeting. OFFICERS: Kathleen Kelly currently serves as the WSSU board chair, the other executive officers include Trustee Bill Miller, Vice Chair and Brent Moore, Secretary. Drewry Nostitz serves as nominating committee chair.
