bulk mailings to over 1,000 local (and sometimes hard to reach) households. During this time, there was a lot of laughter and smiles as they worked sometimes all day long. Both cared about their community and the people in it. Both gave their time not only to the newsletters, but also to other tasks in the office. Kylene’s sister passed away about six months ago; however, Kylene still gives her time to VAS and to other agencies in the community. Despite life’s challenges and sincere grief, Kylene invests in her community and cares for others by offering her heart, her time, and her organizational talents. We are truly grateful for Kylene! Programs and services are essential, but without our volunteers, Valley Assistance Services programs would not be able to assist the residents of so many towns and cities, including Sahuarita, Green Valley, Amado, Tubac, Tumacacori, Carmen, and Rio Rico. Chrissi Gomez, Valley Assistance Services’ new Volunteer Manager, actively communicates and meets with volunteers. Through consistent communication and creative engagement (like the new monthly Volunteer Meet and Greets), Chrissi attracts, energizes, and retains volunteers—volunteers whose stories touch hearts and inspire lives.
