tainly many more than there used to be. On the other hand, I'm sure some of my unbelieving colleagues do consider me to be a simple- minded boob — possibly for many reasons! But there are many men of sci ence in this country who are dedi cated Christians. I belong to— am on the executive council, in fact, of the American Scientific Affilia tion. We have over 1700 members, all avowed Christians. Yet in my travels to more than half of the nation’s major universities, I have found many scientists who know the Lord but never heard of the A.S.A. So, you see, a believing sci entist is really not such a rare bird. Question: Do you find your Chris tian faith relevant to your everyday life as a scientist, or to your work in any way? Freed: Do I? How much time have you got? Really, I am daily impressed with the enormous complexity and beautiful interdependence of the creation. I marvel at the design of the Creator. And the Book, God’s Holy Word, shows the unmistakable work of the same God. For example, Exodus contains the most modern hygienic and public health laws. It’s an amazing thing. Man has learned only now (and still not in many societies) these things that God gave in the Bible centuries ago. Certainly, the Bible is a divine book. As for my own work, it has the utmost Biblical relevance. In the very beginning, God gave man the responsibility to dress and keep the land. Later, He gave specific direc tions for conserving resources, such as establishing the Sabbatic year when the land was to rest. God has arranged this world for the benefit of man. We can use its resources, and still have them, if we care for them properly. The trouble is that man lets greed overcome him, and he spoils the land. You see, these conservation and pollution prob lems are, at the bottom, moral or even spiritual problems. If we will listen, Christ will give us the answers here as in every other area of life. I’ve found it so. JUNE, 1970

WHERE CAN A JEW FIND CHRIST?

On street corners, in homes, in shops, and in our witnessing cen ters, our workers faith fully proclaim the story of redemption accord ing to Moses and the prophets, and the gos pel message from the New Testament, and Jews are finding the Saviour. A Jewish boy accepted a tract, "Isaiah's Por trait of Messiah" and immediately asked, "Can you tell me more about this?" There on a street corner in Chicago a 12 year old boy listened intently to the skillful presentation of the Scripture? and ac cepted Jesus Christ as his Messiah and Sav iour. A middle-aged Jew ess, after hearing the gospel for several years at Miami Beach called and said, "I am terribly distressed. Please come over. I must find the Lord today."
