MEETING THE FONZ
ALBANY FIREBIRDS PLAY FOR A DAY In May, individuals at Warren, Washington & Albany Counties ARC (WWAARC) had the opportunity to play on the field at MVP Arena with Coach Damon Ware and members of the Albany Firebirds of the Arena Football League! This special event was hosted by Bryce Weiler, co-founder of the The Beautiful Lives Project. The mission of The Beautiful Lives Project is to “give people with disabilities the opportunity to actively participate in activities and events that may not have been available to them previously due to physical or facility limitations.” Yet another example of why we are stronger when we come together! Larry has always loved “The Fonz,” from the 1970s sitcom Happy Days, and in May he got the special opportunity to meet The Fonz! Henry Winkler, who played the beloved TV character, was at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown Heights doing a meet-and-greet, and Larry’s staff at The Arc Mid-Hudson (Greene, Putnam, Ulster) brought him to meet his idol. Staff said Mr. Winkler was very kind and made Larry’s day. They think Larry made his day in return!
