STYLES
Upright – The most popular of all styles, upright monuments are the most visible when installed on the cemetery grounds. The top portion is typically referred to as a “die” and the bottom portion is known as the “base”. Uprights come in all shapes and sizes and offer unlimited choices in design. This allows for maximum personalization of the memorial.
Slant – A two piece memorial that is midway in height between the bevel marker and the upright monument. Although slants do not allow quite as many options as upright monuments, they do have an angled face which increases the overall surface area for design. Slants can also be fabricated with various tops and finishes.
Bevel – Typically a one piece memorial that is installed above ground. Bevel markers are slightly higher on the back side of the memorial with a gentle slope towards the front. Bevels are a good alternative to the flat marker style.
Flat – This type of memorialization is usually selected due to cemetery regulations that may only permit markers that are level with the ground. Although they are generally the least expensive, the maintenance and cleaning of these memorials is most difficult as they lie flush with the surface level. For those families with
a limited budget, we usually recommend a bevel marker as they are similar in price but are much easier to maintain and locate on the cemetery grounds.
Bench Memorials – In recent years, the use of granite benches for memorialization has become more common. This type of memorial can be installed on the cemetery grounds, in a non-traditional garden, at home or any other place of significance. Granite benches can be easily engraved and are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and finishes. When cremation has been chosen as the final method of disposition, urn benches can serve as the
permanent memorial as well as the structure in which the cremated remains are placed.
SIDES Traditionally, most memorials have been constructed with straight sides. Convex sides are curved like the exterior of a circle or sphere while concave sides are curved inward. Illustrations of each example are included below.
Standard slants and upright memorials usually include a straight top. A serpentine or oval top enhances the appearance of any memorial with its smooth, flowing lines. Roof, ridge and gothic tops offer an alternative to the more common styles with the addition of a pronounced peak. For those individuals seeking a truly unique design, the use of an apex or apex check top adds a touch of elegance reflecting the finest in memorial design.
TOPS
CARVINGS The placement of carvings on a memorial can reflect individual lifestyles, religious beliefs, hobbies or any other theme. The choices in carvings are only limited by one’s imagination.
Sculpture - Sculptures are three dimensional figures that are hand crafted with pneumatic tools. Sculptures add unparalleled dimension to reflect the highest levels of artistry and design.
Deep – Deep carvings are hand crafted and offer additional dimension to the design.
Shaped - Shaped carvings are sandblasted deeper than a flat carving and reveal additional dimension and texture.
Flat - Flat carvings are the basic design type in which the detail is outlined by an automated machine. This type of carving exhibits no detailed shape or dimension.
FINISHES
Polished – polishing a granite surface exhibits a high gloss, mirror-like appearance and displays the true beauty of the natural product. Memorials can be polished on one or all of the surface areas.
Polished Margin – polished margins are cut into the base of a memorial and vary in thickness. Polished margins add warmth and enhance the beauty of any memorial base.
Steeled – a smooth surface which does not have the high gloss shine.
Rock Pitch – a rough surface formed with a hammer and chisel. This process creates pronounced and sharp edges.
Modern technology and our skilled craftsmen enable a memorial to be designed in literally any shape.

PANELS
Lettering on any memorial can be engraved directly into the polished granite surface or with the use of one or more contrasting panels.
The use of etchings and scenes is another way in which people choose to personalize a memorial. These images are typically produced by laser machines or by hand and etched directly into the stone. Most often, etchings are done only on black granite but, in some cases, can be completed on some darker granites. Ask about the inclusion of scenes and images and how they can enhance the beauty and personalization of any memorial.
ETCHINGS & SCENES
PHOTOGRAPHS The use of porcelain photographs is another way in which people choose to personalize a memorial. Porcelain photographs can be reproduced in black and white or color and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Granite or metal vases are available in a multitude of colors, styles and shapes. Most often, they are used to hold small plants or large floral arrangements. Vases are yet another option in personalization and are a beautiful compliment to any memorial base.

EPITAPHS
Modern technology has made the addition of epitaphs to a memorial quite common. Epitaphs can be a basic inscription, a favorite saying, famous poems, or an original writing. Your choices when selecting an epitaph are limitless.
Absent from the body, Present with the Lord. I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. I go to prepare a place for you that where I am, there you may also be. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. Our brief partings on earth will appear one day as nothing beside the joy of eternity together. But many that are first shall be last and the last shall be first. He lived life to the fullest. She filled every second of her life with laughter, love and happiness. Their greatest peace was found in nature...and those moments spent crossing the next mountain. He was filled with a zest for life that never grew old, and kept him eternally young. While he lives cherished in our memories, he is never far away. They loved their Lord with all their heart, with all their mind and with all their spirit. A godly man who served the Lord all his days. In God's care. The Lord is my Shepherd. May heaven's eternal joy be thine. Love is eternal. Where there is great love there are always miracles.
May she rest in peace with God. Not my will but thine be done. Let her own works praise her at the gates.
Generous of heart, constant of faith. Out of sorrow God speaks to us best. I know that my redeemer lives, therefore I too shall live. He gives His beloved sleep. Our love goes with you and our souls wait to join you.
In His will is our peace. Unto them that love God, all things work for good. And I will give you rest. Trust in God. May the peace of the Lord be with you. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills. God is our refuge and our strength. All things to the glory of God. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. What we keep in memory is ours forever. Always in our hearts. Gone from home but not from our hearts. We lived together in happiness, we rest together in peace. Love lives on. She touched everyone with special love and kindness.
