Far-right extremism and counter-protests:
Many far-right groups, such as the Proud Boys and Patriot Prayers, were
fervently opposed to the movement and organised counter-protests almost
immediately. They argued that BLM demonstrations were a threat to law and
order and their traditional conservative values. The groups often encouraged
‘ armed agitators’ to attend protests as they argued that the BLM movement was ‘ a left-wing plot to ‘destroy American history’ . 117
