Not only does the presence of a media bias intensify the likelihood of social groups retaining a ‘uniform partisan identity’ 86 , but it also helps legitimise a political space that encourages an environment in which the radical right can thrive. 87 Evidence of this can be seen in the glamourisation and promotion of key

figures within the far-right movement by media outlets. For example, Steve

Bannon, the former executive chairman of Breitbart News (an American far-right

news website), gained attention for his controversial and inflammatory remarks, with his writings often consisting of islamophobia and racism. 88 Later in life,

Bannon was employed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Trump campaign,
