2024 Mid South Horn Workshop Program

Jeremiah Flack Jeremiah Flack , a native Washingtonian, is a Trumpeter, theatre musician, and entrepreneur. Jeremiah graduated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC before traveling to East Lansing, Michigan where he graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Jazz Studies. During his young career, Jeremiah has shown his zeal for crafting captivating and thought-provoking musical pieces. He’s had the privilege of sharing the stage with Terrance Blanchard and Herbie Hancock while playing at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York City. Through his company, J. Flack Productions, Jeremiah has performed in various settings from Broadway to the Capital City Jazz Jam Sessions. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, Jeremiah’s passion and dedication to music and the arts shine through his work. Katey J. Halbert Hornist Katey J. Halbert’s vibrant personality and passion for music inspire both as a teacher and performer. A resident of Northwest Arkansas, she is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Her career over the last decade has been highlighted by numerous unique and engaging musical experiences. As a performer she has been a featured soloist at numerous festivals and conferences, many of whom have focused on representation of women in music such as the International Women’s Brass Conference, the Women Composer’s Festival at Hartford, and the Mississippi Women’s University Music by Women Festival. As a chamber musician, she has been a member of the nonprofit organization, the Wild Prairie Winds, for the last five years working towards goals such as music education in rural communities and performing in accessible venues. Her love for music continues year-round as she spends her summers teaching at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan performing with Blue Lake’s faculty wind and brass quintets as well as the Festival Chamber Orchestra. Her devotion to teaching and performing is outshined only by her love for her husband and their furry family of five.
