2024 Mid South Horn Workshop Program

Peggy Moran Peggy Moran is Professor of Horn at the University of Central Oklahoma and the Executive Director of the Cormont Music. Peggy’s varied career has included degrees in Music Theory and Horn Performance; a decade of free-lance experience; and now collegiate teaching alongside running a non-profit. Dedicated to new music, Peggy regularly commissions pieces for chamber groups with horn, focused on diversifying both the pool of composers writing for the horn and the type of music written for the horn. She is currently touring with her project “Corni Angelicus,” which features six commissions for horn quartet and rhythm section by Steve Allee, Aliyah Danielle, Marie Douglas, Gabe Evens, Frank Glover, and Shanyse Strickland. Eric Morin Dr. Eric Morin serves as Adjunct Instructor of Horn at the University of Dayton and is a member of the University of Dayton Faculty Brass Quintet. He also maintains an active performance and teaching calendar in the Cincinnati Tri-State area. He has performed with orchestras that include the Louisville Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic, Richmond (IN) Symphony, Oregon Coast Music Association Orchestra, Blue Ash-Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Symphony, Ohio Valley Symphony, and the Butler Philharmonic. As an educator, Dr. Morin maintains a private teaching studio in the greater Cincinnati area, working with junior high, high school and adult horn players. He has served as a judge for solo competitions at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Ohio University. He has been an adjudicator for the 14th district middle schools of the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) and annually records audition etudes selected for the OMEA All-State band. Dr. Morin received his Doctorate of Musical Arts and his Master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor’s of Music from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His primary teachers include Denise Tryon, Randy Gardner, Elizabeth Freimuth, Dr. Steven Gross and Jonas Thoms.
