C ela fait plus de dix ans maintenant que Chahan Minassian a ouvert les portes de son espace galerie non loin du musée d’Orsay. Le plus parisien des déco- rateurs libanais , comme il est surnommé, scénographie dans ce refuge d’esthète un art de vivre distingué, ponctué de pièces de caractère. Le lieu accueille une collection de mobilier signée du XX e siècle ainsi que les créations d’artistes pour lesquels Chahan Minassian nourrit de l’admiration. Ils ont pour point commun d’explorer les relations entre matières et textures, entre savoir-faire d’ici et du loin-
tain. Associés au galeriste, Antoinette Faragallah, Peter Lane, Shizue Imai ou encore Christopher Maschinot donnent vie à une sélection soignée aux lignes définitivement organiques. Attenant à ce terrain d’expression polyphonique, Chahan Minassian a choisi d’installer l’entité Chahan Design, une galerie com- plémentaire qui abrite exclusivement luminaires, assises et meubles dont il est l’auteur.
T en years have gone by since Chahan Minassian opened the doors of his gallery space not far from the Musée d’Orsay. Within this artist’s hideaway , “the most Parisian of Lebanese interior designers” , as he is nicknamed, sets the stage for a distinguished art of living, studded with character-filled pieces. The venue hosts a collection of 20 th century fur- niture along with creations by artists that Chahan Minassian admires. The common thread here is the exploring of the relationship between ma- terials and textures, and between local and far-off expertise. Together with the gallery owner, Antoinette Faragallah, Peter Lane, Shizue Imai and Christopher Maschinot bring to life a careful selection featuring resolutely organic lines.
